Talon Cats?

I would just like to know how they perform. I am probably not in the market for one right this moment but am curious. Does anyone have any speed numbers on them?

Up to 900 hp per side they actually run approx the same top speed #s as a similar size late 90s to mid 2000 design #6 -36' pleasure Skater or Norteck,140mph or so depending on prop.
When you start to put 1000+ hp per side to these hulls that,s where the Talons inefficiency high prop slip rears her head, the mph spread goes 10 to 15 mph between the Talon and the Skater speed wise.
We run 1300hp + per side in our 377 and fully loaded run mid 150s every day of the week in a very short distance,105 to 150mph a click less than 10 seconds stop watch tests.
In a few weeks we plan on documenting a 160+ mph run by adding larger props and a few lbs of boost if needed.
For this hull that's moving pretty well, by Skater /MTI standards a total slug power to power.

The 377 pod hulls don,t handle the rough water near as well as the skater but up to 3' s or so I prefer the over all ride of the Talon to both my neighbors 36' Skaters .
If you want to be racer X this is not the hull, but as a fast pleasure bay boat she makes for a great ride!

Correction

Hustler added neither. Hustler made the entrance into the existing cabin more high tech. And they made it wider.

The original boat that was the start of RR was my 37 Talon with 900 mercs.

It was one of the models that came with a center pod.
There was another Talon up here at the same time that I ran with.
Half canopied...but with no center pod.

Both boats ran 138-140.

Very stable .

Hustler bought the molds in the early 2000s from the original owner and made good cosmetic changes to the interior.

UNITED NATIONS

Ran the **** out of that boat for 4 years beginning in 1999.
The current owner is a friend who is at the front of every poker run it is in.

So whatever happened to the Border Line boat? or is that the same boat? the grafics look kinda the same. I remember that one had a mid cabin saw it at Bonnie Castle a few times.

Borderline had triple OB.

Ripped them off , added 900 a side and it became UNITED NATIONS.....same boat

Thanks Mike S. I assume that is about the speed of the cut down Nina Ross boat? How does the Double R boat with the triple X motors compare? Come on guys, Help an outboard guy out!

Before they repowered it with Mercs, Lexan 4 man Canopy, Latham Steering, Tie Bars & Throttles, VDO & Gaffrig gauges, Apollo Aviation GPS, Alpine Stereo CD, Intercom, 4 Bucket Recaro type seats, 3 CMC mechanical S/S engine lifts, 2 x 150 US Gal Tanks. Myco custom tri-axle trailer, 45’ long overall. 42.6 Total Hours since new. Last run 1995. Fresh water only. ~5308 lbs without engines. Mint Condition.

Approximate performance figures when repowered.

We used to race against Todd Werner when he ran the Talon Flowmaster, and we were in the 36 skater triple outboard Snakeman. As much as I hate to admit it, the talon ran sweet, and routinely outran the skater!

I actually have that boat in my shop right now (Snakeman) I just got done with all new tanks and surrounding structure/floors/dash everything . Getting ready to re do the entire transom and tunnel for quads (needs two pods in tunnel). Maybe it can catch a Talon now :D

The triple 300X boat runs just short of 100 mph...

Thanks for the info, It does seem like it could use a little fine tuning. That is a great deal for a boat that size but a little more MPH would be nice. I would think the X powered boat with the torque of the 3 liters would smoke a 2.5 powered one.

Nice! I know back then it was a heavy biotch! :sifone: Post some pics when you get a chance!

Please feel free to call me. I worked at Talon when the boat was developed and had the oppertunity to race both the 25 and 37. I am currently working @ STATEMENT Marine and yes the Flowmaster Talon is here. It has been converted to a pleasure boat and is currently available. Gary Armington (Owner of Talon) is a very close friend of mine and I may be able to put you in touch with him as well. Chip Fendt 941 586-1808.
