Talon Cats?

I'm not absolutely certain about the lineage, but the Talon bottom looks identical to the Maelstrom to me. The Maelstrom looks very much like the Peters-designed Apache cat.

There is a difference between the original Talon design and the Hustler Talon's,Hustler added the center pod and cabin!

37.5 ft long with a 10' 4" beam a very smooth riding boat!.

Here are a few picks of our 377 Talon!

Nice rig and superbad looking 'Bird in the avitar photo!

Thanks,
Back in the mid 90s we watched the 5.0 boys playing with the Vortecks and Pro chargers so we played right along with them.
Only we ran methanol instead of gas and 500 ci power in place of their small blocks!
We had a lot of fun with that car!

Hustler added neither. Hustler made the entrance into the existing cabin more high tech. And they made it wider.

The original boat that was the start of RR was my 37 Talon with 900 mercs.

It was one of the models that came with a center pod.
There was another Talon up here at the same time that I ran with.
Half canopied...but with no center pod.

Both boats ran 138-140.

Very stable .

Hustler bought the molds in the early 2000s from the original owner and made good cosmetic changes to the interior.

UNITED NATIONS

Ran the **** out of that boat for 4 years beginning in 1999.
The current owner is a friend who is at the front of every poker run it is in.

That was a sweet ride wasn't it Alec.
Maybe you should buy it back so you won't be the slowest boat at the poker runs this summer :biggrinjester::biggrinjester::biggrinjester:

WTF

I step forward to volunteer and supply the medic boat and pace boat .....and this is the way you treat me ?????:boxing_smiley:

It belongs to one of their friends.
Priced way cheap.
I've run with that boat many times.
Quick.
Owner has run it with his young son, so it has not had the crap beat out of it.
Owner is normal family guy and runs on calm water.
Boat is in good shape.

Does anyone know any history on "Rock-Hit-Ship" with triple 300's?

Sure do. Originally built for R.Chiovitti, owner of a big banana importing company in Toronto and rigged with tripple second effort johnson v8's. Rarely ever used and sat in a climate controlled toy warehouse for years. Rerigged with mercs by RR a couple years ago. Very clean, low hour boat.

its actually an original design, I actually thought it was very similar to the Eliminators. this from Ryan Beckley on another thread. Who designed the Malestrom?

Gary Armington designed, tooled, and built it in Sarasota. He still builds and repairs some boats in a small shop about 1 mile from me. I would guess they built about a dozen 37's before the molds were sold to Hustler. They built many different variations of the boat and weren't afraid to try anything. Gary is a true craftsman. I am sure anyone can see that in the amount of effort put into the tooling of that boat. That particular boat was built for Steve Neeley of Out Of Bounds and raced in the Modified class for many years. Steve later built another Talon for the original Super Cat class. It was a cool piece rigged by TNT. Last I knew Jim Dyke had it in Vermillon , Ohio. I believe the canopy is a Talon design made by Texstar. Talon's 25' is THEEEEE most copied Cat hull ever built......almost every west coast 25-30 cat is some sort of a knock off of Talons Original design. This is the same design as the one Sonny Crockett raced off into the sun set on ones of Vices season finales......

Peters designed the Apache and the Maelstrom. The Talon is SOOOOO similar- even looking at the treatment on the forward edges at the bow- almost identical in how they're angled back instread of being "pointy".
