Talk about your quitters

I disagree, I think you're thinking of that Cat dude.....

And no matter what anybody cuts and pastes, if they took the time to read it, edit it down to the points they agree with, then it's a quote for discussion. I really have no problem with that. Saves me reading and researching things.

Many people a lot smarter than me have expressed the opinion that if you don't understand the side opposing, you don't deserve to oppose.

Maybe that's just you. I've never read anything that was beyond my comprehension, I also know that you can't make chicken salad out of chicken sh!t.

A distinction that I would make is whether or not the person has internalized and then communicated their own position in the debate, using the quoted material as the underlying source of their data set, rather than lobbing a few insults like Neanderthal and saying "here it is you mindless followers of the opposition."

I don't see how the grading of other posts are on point with this discussion.

Then there is no need for you to evaluate posts based on cut and pastes, is there? ;)

The gentle guiding of people away from personal conflict and toward a reasonable exchange is on point with any discussion. :)

I disagree , most cut and pastes are more akin to filibustering in congress.

One thing that I learned in a book I read in high school was by Dale Carnegie. The book was How to Win Friends and Ifluence People. It's just as relevant today as it was when it was written in the 1950's. One line I remember distinctlty: The best way to win an argument is to avoid it. The more you argue your point, the more the other person is sure they are right.

I didn't know where to find the cut and paste of what I read in a book over 30 years ago.

The book has seven major sections. The core principles of each section are quoted below.

[edit] Fundamental Techniques in Handling People

1. Don't criticize, condemn, or complain.
2. Give honest and sincere appreciation.
3. Arouse in the other person an eager want.

[edit] Six Ways to Make People Like You

1. Become genuinely interested in other people.
2. Smile.
3. Remember that a man's Name is to him the sweetest and most important sound in any language.
4. Be a good listener. Encourage others to talk about themselves.
5. Talk in the terms of the other man's interest.
6. Make the other person feel important and do it sincerely.

The web version.

How to win Efriends and Ifluence people.

1) Don't flame.
2) Post thank yous whenever appropriate.
3) Post stuff that people like.

Six ways to make internet people like you

1) Become interested in the posters
2) Use smilies a lot
3) Remember that people like their screen name
4) Lurk as much as you ho.

There are onlt 4 because like the internet... all of the info isn't really there. :)

3. Remember that a man's Name is to him the sweetest and most important sound in any language.
.
I read in a dog training book that the sweetest music to a dogs ear, is the sound of his own name, called by his master.

I always make a point to call all three of my dogs by their name. After twelve years together, they get it. :)

I am personally much less concerned about the Rebulicans / Hispanics than I am about the Obama administrations socialization of our country including pending free health care to illegal aliens, censorship, handouts, bailouts, taxes, lies, etc.

This thread is on a roll.........:26:

Stecz was in Michigan City.:sifone: Put a couple pics in the thread.

Toughest one for most people to accomplish. Interestingly enough, the easiest one for most people to pick up on if it's phony.

But, when a person's goat is got, not always so true.:)

Goats, sheep, stecz...I'm so confused.....I do remember in kindergarten, thinking that rootbeer flavored paste would be cool... but I never had to cut my paste..I just smeared it with my fingers...

No surprise he resigned. I give hm kudo's for listen to strategists. They told him he cant get re-elected so he bows out with grace. Unlike Kathleen Harris. She was an out of control train wreck.

I'm not sure that leaving during term will do anything for him. At least he was eloquent and honest. Going back to private sector is double speak for I can make a mud-load of money as lobbyist or using my politicla influence and collect a fat check from my time served.

Why f-up this thread with something pertaining to the original topic?:26:

I thought we were talking about a book Cuda read in high school back in the 1950's and Jay was going to cut and paste Every article on CNN. :leaving:
