Svl support for lake of the ozarks race next season

As most of you guys know lake of the ozarks is my home turf and where we are at most boating weekends in the summer, in 2009 we had our last offshore race here and the lake hasn't been the same since.
So a group of us here at loto have been working on getting racing back to one of the best venues in offshore powerboating in the nation.
We are in talks with one of the race organizations and are trying to merge a race with our annual poker run here. The dates we are looking at are June 22-24 2012.

Loto has one of the largest if not the largest concentrations of offshore powerboats in the nation and a fanbase for offshore racing that is off the charts. We are working on making this a premier event at a fantastic venue. We have a great group working on this and I'm excited to get racing back to loto!

As with any race we need support from the race teams.
Obviously my core group is the Svl crew. So with that being said, I will work with anyone or any team to try and get local support, and sponsorship here at the lake from local vendors, hotels, etc to help offset the cost as much as possible.
I would love to see a large turnout here and will help anyone get here any way that I can, let's make this race happen!

Cool Lance.

Looking at what is kind of known based on this year, there may be an issue if things go similar.

The schedule would appear to possibly be:

Biloxi, OSS, May 10th to 13th or May 17th to 20th

Sunny Isles, OPA, June 15th to 17th

Tentative LOTO?

Sarasota, SBI, June 29th to July 1st (This one actually scheduled)

P1, Madison, either first weekend, or second weekend, of July.

So, with a scheduled race on the weekend of the 23rd, teams would have to think about Florida, to LOTO, to Florida (or Indiana) on consecutive weekends?

Anyway, I'm sure you're looking at all of this. Just sticking it out there.

Yep, as always schedules conflict with the three different orgs. This date is really the only one that works here and will also be tied in with our annual support our troops poker run.
I can't say for sure as no dates have been confirmed but sunny isles race is possibly going to be earlier or may not happen this year, the Opa schedule will be out shortly after the first of the year.
We are early in the planning stages but are doing everything possible to make this happen.

mumble mumble, grumble ............ Sunny Isles?

I remember when I went out for the Shootout ............ it was a 22hr drive (& we had 2 drivers and drove straight through.

And when I went out there for the OSS Nationals, that ride from the KC airport killed me and another added expense of a rental car.

I wish you the best in trying to get a race there again, I just don't think you will have a good turn out.

Isn't that about the same time as the South Florida races?

LOTO is a great site, 2 hrs from St louis. Wish you the best of luck Lance. You and Shelly have a Merry Christmas.

I am working with a great group here trying to put this together.
My goal is to try and put this event together from a racers perspective, trying to make this an event that will make travel and expenses easier on the race teams,
My goal is a large boat turnout, I understand to make that happen it needs to be affordable on the teams to get here. If I can make this an affordable race hopefully teams will make it a priority on their schedule.
Like I said it's early in the stages but the loto community really wants racing back here and will do whatever it takes to make that happen.
Loto is a great lake with more activities on the water than any other in the nation. we love powerboats, our goal is to make this the must go to race of the season,

They certainly have a great turnout for the Shootout, so the potential is there......

Hey Lance! That sounds awesome man! As the others have said, I think we're all kinda waiting to see the schedule, but I would definitely be down for that! Hopefully all of the scheduling works out, but THIS would definitely be a top choice of mine if it comes together.. Take it easy and tell Shelly we say hey. Later!

We are working on getting permits as we speak. Coast guard regatta permits were sent off today, as soon as it's a definite go I will let everyone know. Trying to get it done as early as possible so folks can get it on their schedule.
