Not many ppl that going to spend $200,000 for a SVL. We have one of those already and maybe if that one sell you might see an Outter Limits.

Who u callin sneak!!!! Lol. We "performance" have a 29 on the way, merc 600 with xr drive. Can't wait, it's going to get demo'd a lot this summer I'm sure, Should have plenty of seat time by the end of summer, can't wait to see how it does in the rough waters of loto.

The speed numbers they Are tellin us are off the charts for efficiency ..... Can't wait to run the you know what out of it..

If the numbers are true, it would be hard to beat in svl.

So we'll sneak down, yank the 600 out and drop in a 525 5450 rpm engine, set the weight at 5000 and the drive at 1/2" below, put on a 31" pitch & 15 5/8" dia prop, and see what we get. Then, in the morning, we'll have it back the old way....

The boat they are testing now is also a lot heaveir then what a SVL would have to be. The SC 600 only dyno at just about 600hp it does have a lot more torq. but its not to far off on HP. I dont know what the drive height is and I'm that can make a big differance.
A stock hand built Merc 525 from Fond du Lac right now are any where between 575hp and 595hp.

There are three barnd spanking new ones that we should have Mercs numbers and independant confirmation on this spring soon. That will be a really good benchmark for the future I believe.

I still think we should try the sneak approach on the boat with the 525. Who will ever know if we don't tell??????:sifone:

The reason they arent using 525 is I think the new 565 will be replacing the 525 very soon, and the future will be 565. Same as Merc did with the Hp 500 and moved on to the 525 .

The SVL class might have to look toward to futhure, you might also see a change in the SCL class for next yr.

The last I knew, Merc was saying full support for the 525 for at least 3 more years, but I know what you mean.

Most of the 525's are lasting at least 3 years currently. So that is a possible 6 years time line to figure out a reasonable change.

We hope to do some testing this yr with a 565 soon, with a lot of the teams having 8-10 yr old motors this might be the time to make the switch. A few of the teams think with the cost of a re build at 10- 12 thousand it might make sense to trade up to the 565 for 2013 while the 525 still have some value.

I think the cost this yeart for a complete rebuild is at $8700 or so? I know the guys can tell you for sure, there were just three done.

Randy amy have the number in one of the other threads, he was talking about the slightly used heads being replaced in the cost, and the heads that went with the motor coming back in one piece.
