I'm leaving this Saturday to go to St John for a week with 14 of my boating friends (some are Serious Members here)to celebrate my 40th Birthday :cheers2: and a mid winter vacation, we are staying at the Westin and next Monday looking to rent some boats and hit a few of the local dock/beach bars... some of the links below

Has anybody on here been lately and any advice will be helpful??

Better yet are any Serious members in St John and have connections or own a rental Boat Company??

Post pictures if you have been to St John please... I need warm weather, white sandy beaches and blue water!!!

Thanks in advance, Patrick

We'll be in the BVI's from January 28th to Feb 8th..... Mostly diving from a trimaran...but also 5 nights on shore......

The ideal winter vacation.

P.S. "Willie T's" ( The William Thornton)is not what it once was, now that you can't jump off the top deck.

Pat, if my experience in BVI last summer is any indication of what to expect, you are in for a very good time.

Here are some shots from the run that went around Virgin Gorda- right at the start leaving Leverick Bay, the first card stop, and another card stop at a place called the Jolly Roger at West End.

So cool that the Willy T has a site! That place/thing is a MUST SEE. I wonder if any of the pix are as good as the ones in the photo album that's on the bar there. I'll post some pix of it later along w the story of my experience there. (watch out for the margaritas!)

Here's a link to the whole gallery... which reminds me... I've got a bunch more shots that need to be uploaded.

We were in St Croix Dec 08. We could see St Thomas from our villa.

We rented a tricat and took in Buck Island. Here are some pics. Can't help you with boat rental but HB and enjoy yourself. Its awesome down there.

The Westin is a great spot for sure. In St. John you have to go to happy hour at Woody's (in town; not on the beach).

If you rent a boat, all the good bars by boat are in the BVI's so you'll have to stop and go thru customs. From St. John' she easiest is to go to Sopers Hole at the tip of Tortola. From there closest bars are on:

Jost Van Dyke: Soggy Dollar (day); Foxy's (night)

Norman Island: Willy T (better at night-hit and miss) its and old logging ship converted to restaurant and bar; topless is common; if you jump off the top deck into the water they give you a T-shirt; there is also another rest/bar there called Pirates.

Wonder if that's a recent thing, as they were going for it when I was there this past summer.

I think Pirates was closed when I was there, but this thread has got me motivated to go back through my shots from that weekend. I might have it confused with one of the other beachfront spots.

Saba Rock is also a very cool spot- great restaurant. Also, there's tiki bar on the beach at Leverick Bay Resort, just across the bay.

Thank You Jay... Nothing like asking a question and get colorful pictures as your answers...

Keep them coming, man I'm getting siked for my trip!!!!

Jumping off top of Willie T's is done. That place ain't what it used to be anyway. Jost Van Dyke is a blast day and night. Bars all over the place.

Hey when you are in St Johns stop by our Mall the Wharfside Village, It is Cruz Bay it has some great shops & restaurant

Oh man, where do I start....

Jost Van Dyke http://www.b-v-i.com/JostVanDyke/default.htm#White Bay

Gotta do Soggy Dollar and One Love Bar on White Bay. Ivan's Stress Free bar is just up the beach and is where several Kenny Chesney videos have been filmed. All of these are within walking distance of each other. While at One Love ask Seddy for a "7 Rum Surprise"......
