Speakers

Anyone know of good value speakers? I don't want to spend a lot of money (cheap) but I don't want crap either. It seems that some of the cheapo speakers sound better than some of the big brand names so I'm curious if anyone has had good luck with something on the low end?

It looks like Pyle is one of the biggest 'cheap' names that has an extensive marine line.

How much are you looking to spend per pair?

I found a good pair of sony's for $120 last year, hooked it up to an amp and they sound great.

To be honest, the less they cost the happier I'll be. So, somewhere between nothing and cheap. It's not really me so much as the wife. I already blew the budget on the boat before I blew the outdrive a couple weeks ago...

I found a set of JBL's for $80 and that is the max I can go without getting a body part chopped off.

Are you really using that body part any way? Get the good ones! :sifone:

hahaha, I am married after all.

I checked crutch, they have Polk Audio db651 for $90. how do they compare to JBL of the same size? The JBL set I can pick up for $72. and yes, 20 bucks makes a difference :ack2:

Thanks Tom, I was actually looking at those on eBay too. How do they look with the red/white boat? My only concern with those is the silver clashing...

For the money I don't think you can beat the Polk MOMO's. I bought two pair on sale at Crutchfield for under $200. Sounds way better than my Clarion Marine Seperates.

They look great! I also put a matching 10" sub in the back of the center console. The whole package including: (4) 6 1/2" speakers, 200 watt Sony head unit, 10" sub and 200 watt sub amp; cost me just over $500.

Unfortunately I don't have any good pictures.

I just amped the sub and use the head unit for the speakers. You can hear it while running but not well, unless you got the intercom on then it sounds great! It sounds real good while idling and when anchored up.

Ok I put 3 pairs of these in my boat last summer. They sound real good. On top oif that look at the price! You wont be disappointed they are so freaking cheap

first check with friends.... I was getting ready to buy speakers 2 years ago, a friend had some infinity's laying around, cost me an 18 pak of beer, and they are some of the best speakers I have heard. Bass response is excellent too...

is that a pair? I hate electronics descriptions that aren't clear if it is a pair or 1 speaker.:boxing_smiley:

Tom A.: What amp did you get? did you just amp the sub and use the head for the other speakers? can you hear the system with the boat running?

sorry for all the questions:(

yes its a pair. :) i bought a couple pair from them along w/ my alpine head unit (still on backorder :boxing_smiley:)
