Going to a buddy's housewarming party tomorrow. Looking to bring him a bottle of scotch. I'm a Bourbon guy and don't know crap about scotch whiskey. What do you all recommend?

The dalmore 15 year, Glenfiddich 15 and Aberlour are a few of the more premiums. Glenfiddich is my favorite. You can't go wrong with any of those.
:)

Brand recommendations please. I know singles are the "gold standard" although I've here there's a few sh*t hot blendeds right now. Looking for a specific brand recommendation, assuming that each has its own personality, even within the single malt range. Thanks.

My recommendation is not to do shots of scotch- it will get ya drunk.

Take what you like over there, give it him and then drink it all..

i am a scotch drinker, i like Glenfiddich, Glenmorangie, Macallan but there are several varieties of each brank

Probably $50 ish... Maybe more maybe less. Should clarify that he's from Scotland and I played rugby with him... If any of that is relevant.

Perfect. I stand by my original post. He'll be happy. Those will be in the 60-70 range depending on the store (The Dalmore might be 90ish).

Doing some online research as well... This descrption is exactly why I drink bourbon! :sifone:

Old-fashioned sticking plaster, peat smoke and seaweed leap off the nose, followed by something a little sweeter and fruitier. Massive on the palate, with fish oil, salt and plankton, though the finish is surprisingly tight and increasingly drying. The biggest beast in the jungle, even if its roar has become more muted in recent years. ‘Love it or hate it,’ as one Laphroaig advert rather boldy put it, but you just can’t ignore it.

Come to think of it... It reminds me of someone we all know...

Just remember the Scots spell it Whisky while Americans and the Irish spell it Whiskey. I was always told that the Scots wanted to save ink and money by not including the e in whiskey. :cheers2:
