2017 Clearwater Super Boat National Championship Festival: What To Know Before You Go
CLEARWATER, FL – Tampa Bay area restaurateur Frank Chives fell in love with the Super Boat International Races in Key West – so much in fact that he brought them to Clearwater Beach.
For the ninth year, Chives’ dream will come true in the form of the 2017 Clearwater Super Boat National Championship Festival. Last year’s event drew more than 50,000 spectators on more than 2,500 boats lining the 2.5-mile race course.
But the 2017 Clearwater Super Boat National Championship Festival is more than just the main event. The three-day festival also features race team meet-and-greets, a super boat parade and the sights and sounds, tastes and fun of the Clearwater area.
Here’s what area residents and visitors need to know before you go to the 2017 Clearwater Super Boat National Championship Festivalates and Times
The 2017 Clearwater Super Boat National Championship Festival runs from noon to 10 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 29; 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30; and noon to 7 p.m. (and beyond) on Sunday, Oct. 1.
Location
Events will take place in and around the Clearwater area, including Clearwater Beach, Coachman Park and Shephard’s Beach Resort.

Shephard’s Largest After Race Beach Party Ever!
VIP passes to the event are $100 for adults and $20 for children. Aside from the free events, VIP pass holders can attend the Shephard’s Super Boat Kick-Off Party on Friday evening, the Shephard’s VIP Party on Saturday night and have access to VIP seating at Pier 60.

The following events will take place surrounding the 2017 Clearwater Super Boat National Championship Festival:
Friday, Sept. 29
Super Boat Race Village, noon to 10 p.m.
Coachman Park, 100 S. Myrtle Ave., Clearwater
Visitors can get up close and personal with the super boats and their race teams. Fans can get autographs and photos with the teams and boats alike. Food and beer trucks will be on site.
Boat Parade & Downtown Block Party, 6:30 to 10 p.m.
Downtown Clearwater
Downtown Clearwater will welcome the boats and race teams in style with the Super Boat Parade, which will go down Cleveland street starting at 6:30 p.m. Fans can once again meet the drivers and craft beer will be on tap from House of Beer. There will be contests, games, prizes, vendors and 10 free bikes will be given away.

8:30 p.m. – The Black Honkeys on Garden Avenue
Baystar Super Boat VIP Party, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Station Square Park, 612 Cleveland St.
During the Downtown Block Party, VIP holders can access the Baystar Super Boat VIP Party at Station Square Park. Attendees can meet race teams and special guests for autographs and pictures. The event will feature the Steel Drum Cocktail Party with heavy appetizers.
Shephard’s Super Boat Kick-Off Party, 6 to midnight
Shephard’s Beach Resort, 619 S. Gulfview Blvd., Clearwater Beach
For those looking for an evening on the water, Shephard’s Beach Resort will host its own kickoff party. VIP pass holders receive free admission while all other attendees can pay a cover charge to get in.

Saturday, Sept. 30

Super Boat Downtown Block Party, 2 to 6 p.m.
Cleveland Street, Clearwater
The party returns to downtown Clearwater for another celebration for the 2017 Clearwater Super Boat National Championship Festival. A variety of vendors and live entertainment will be on site, and craft beer will be available from House of Beer.
5th Annual Rock the Block with Tony’s Pizza & Bar
Tony’s Pizza & Bar, 428 Cleveland St.
The block party continues in front of Tony’s Pizza & Bar. Live entertainment will be provided by:
6 to 8 p.m. – The Groove Orient
8 to 10 p.m. – She’s that Dude
Sunsets at Pier 60, 6 to 9 p.m.
Pier 60, Memorial Causeway, Clearwater
Sunsets at Pier 60 provides 364 days of beach-style entertainment every year, with the sunset over the Gulf of Mexico as the star attraction (weather permitting). Vendors and live entertainment will be on site, as well as a fireworks display. VIP pass holders can receive a free ice cream cone during the event.
Shephard’s VIP Party, 10 p.m. to 3 a.m.
Shephard’s Beach Resort, 619 S. Gulfview Blvd., Clearwater Beach
VIP pass holders can rock the night away before the big races begin on Sunday during Shephard’s VIP Party. Live entertainment will be provided by:

Super Boat Races, noon to 4 p.m.
Clearwater Beach
The super boats take off like a rocket starting at noon with the first heats. Attendees can choose to watch from the beach, on their own boats in designated viewing areas, from cruise ships, from VIP viewing areas or at Pier 60. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children with entry beginning at 9 a.m. Tickets can be purchased the day of the event. The boat race schedule is:
Noon – Super Boat Race Heat 1, Super Boat Stock, Super Boat Vee, Production 3&4
1:30 p.m. – Super Boat Race Heat 2, Super Boat Unlimited, Super Boat Extreme
3 p.m. – Super Boat Race Heat 3
After Race Party & Awards Ceremony, 4 to 7 p.m.
Marina Cantina, 25 Causeway Blvd., Clearwater
After the races end, Marina Cantina will host the After Race Party starting at 4 p.m., with the awards ceremony taking place at 6 p.m. The cantina will offer Happy Hour specials for tacos, margaritas and craft beer.
Shephard’s Largest After Race Beach Party Ever!, 4 p.m. until it stops

The after party once again moves to Shephard’s Beach Resort, where live music and DJs will keep the tunes going until closing.
