SBI Michigan City Grand Prix, 2014 - Pics and Review

Of the seven Superboat Stock boats who have raced SBI this year, three showed up in Michigan City.

It was a very good race between SOS Venezula and Hulk. SOS took the lead and never gave it up, but Hulk was right there throughout both races. On the second race, it was extremely close at the end.

The double points awarded in Michigan City also give Superboat Stock an interesting bit of a shakeup for the season championship. SOS Venezuela jumped from third place to first with 2396 total points to Hulk's 2392 total points. GB Racing dropped from second to fourth as they did not make an appearance in Michigan City and made no addition to their 1392 pointy total. S-11 Boatfloater jumped from 5th to 3rd place with a total of 1988 points for the season. It will be very difficult for anyone to crack those top three places unless one of them has a major issue, or a no show, at one of the three remaining races. The remaining races between SOS and Hulk should be very interesting. A total of four points separation really make it a dead heat and both will have to really be on their game to beat the other one out.

The only boat in P-4. They threw a serpentine belt on the way out to start the second race so delayed the start of the race while they moved them out of the way. In the first race they ran strong with an average speed of 67.81. I chatted with them afterward and they had a blast. Interestingly, even though it's their first race, with the double points they are in 5th place of ten boats for the season.

Rumor has it there is an all points bulletin trying to locate whoever that is, every tip can be used. We don't know if a reward has been posted yet but will do our best to keep everyone informed when we find out......
