satellite VS cable

How many TVs are currently connected to CATV at your house?

we have 3 tv's. the living room has the digital box with HD, on demand, several movie & music channels and PPV. The bedrooms are just tied into the cable and get the basic channels, maybe 75 0r 80 channels. We will be getting an HDTV for our bedroom so what ever we get I guess we'll need another box.

That's why we were curious. Some folks have large video distribution systems and a lot of tvs... and that can complicate the plan. I have TVs on cable in the garage, kitchen, living room and three bedrooms. I like to keep doing whatever I am doing.... even if I am watching something. The garage tv is my favorite.

Three won't present too much of a problem. When I was installing Sat TV back in the day... you could run 4 receivers off of one dish with a dual LNB. That has probably changed. Audiofn would know... he is still in that business.

We currently have comcast cable for TV but we're considering switching to satellite because it seems cheaper.

Call Comcast and ask for the "Customer Retention Department"

The best deals are saved for new customers to steal them away from their current provider; the "Customer Retention Department" are the only ones with the power to override your settings and give you the new customer deals. I did this for the last 7-8 years until switching to FIOS. My bill was around $115, then when my year promotion ran out it would jump to $180. I'd make the call and back to $115 it went.

I had both DirecTV and Comcast at the same time for about 5 years- was more remembering which channels were what vs the content in my case. Like CBS could be channel 9 on the locals, 505 in hi def and 224 on DTV (guess on channel #'s but hope you see my point). I did it because Comcast had internet and DTV had the football package plus I DTV at my RV so was already paying for it, an extra dish and box were all that was needed; not 2 subscriptions.

I was told you can run 6 regular or 3 hd receivers, then of course you can have another dish which I do.

called comcast. lowered my bill from $90 to $54 for 6 months, but we still only have 1 HD box. they wouldn't throw in another. can they be purchased and is it worth it? comcast would up the price to $70 for the additional hd box where as with directv we would get 3 boxes for that additional $16.

just switched to ATT UVERSE,HD, internet ,no land line its all cell phone's these days
