Just a minor fact check, but Blarney is actually hesitant on whether the repaid TARP funds should be "recycled" or actually serve to reduce the balance.

Gheitner is pushing to keep the program running with repaid monies.

I saw film of barney pushing for this. Maybe they edited out some of it ?

My comment about the 'size' of this story has to do with how utterly UNQUALIFIED obama is for national office, and the fact that a country would choose such a person with NO REGARD for the potential consequences for the country by making the move. A fact that seems to be totally overlooked by most everybody on the left.

Jay - do you know alot of politicians personally? You need to get a grip on the fact that maybe 5% of them have ANY CLUE in life. The other 95% have one common trait: The ability to suck up and kiss a$$ to the people with money that will donate to them. Understand that the donor would probably make a more capable, more intelligent, better candidate. :USA:

Just joining the party and got to this post. Will read the thread over the day and post more comments. X makes a strong point that all of us either know or suspect to be true. (Although 78.9% of statistics are made up on the spot.)

Where I differ on this line of thought is that if 96% of elected officials don't have a clue, we the people should devote more time to calling them out on it. In time, maybe politicians with either think twice before running or be better prepared before they jump into the public ring.

With that said, it seems fair that someone who entered politics for the title, not the office, should be called out on it. By resigning and preparing for the post-elected-office revenue stream, she is inviting the criticism.

We've seen countless politicians from both sides of the aisle do this. And I am all for profiting on one's own successes. But when you are profiting for pretending to be a success, then you should be called out. Much like any politician who publicly opposed gay rights, but is secretly soliciting gay sex. Hypocritical politicians deserve to be outed.

If I can articulate this another way, Anti-Palinites are not paranoid or insecure about her. We are people from all political parties that realize the real danger she represents. He escalation to higher office is a sign that people will simply vote for anyone who can get them in a power position. That short-sightedness quickly backfires when the Manchurian Candidate is actually in office and possesses the power to thwart the very people that got them there.

Palin threat is not that she can get elected President. it's that she can single-handedly dismantle the Republican party in the 2012 election and most of us fear that outcome. Having the Democrats in total control is just as bad as having the Republicans in control. Right now, our country's biggest concern should not be major policy changes, it should be the loss of a viable second party.

Rush Limbaugh said the only people he hates worse than Liberals are moderate Republicans. Because Moderates will abandon you when you go too far to the Right. Well, I jumped ship when we went too far to the right. And now, the Republican party wants all moderates out. And guess what, you absolutely, positive CANNOT ever win a major national election relying solely on the party base.

So, as I mentioned in the original Palin thread, it is a very bad situation when you have Palin drilling holes in the SS Conservative Movement and everyone's standing around commenting on how hot she looks holding the drill.

Jay, your affirmative action President has lowered the bar when it comes to unqualified. And if you don't see that you are simply not facing facts. My posits on this before the inauguration said that his approval would head rapidly down, and it has. I also said he will fail miserably, and he has. IF Sarah Palin makes it to national office it will be the combination of the dumbing down of the elctorate that got O elected and the utter failure of O, Pelosi, et al to do anything perceived as good for this country. And you have to admit, if O can't keep ratings up with a fawning press to cover him, he has to be monumentally failing.

While the jury is still out on Obama (he has another year to get things moving before the 2012 campaign begins) it is not a good idea to cast aspersions on O-mamma while standing on the SS W-Was-An-Idiot.

I do not like the bail-outs and recession. But let's call a spade a spade. If Reagan wanted to spend 4 years blaming everything bad on Carter, Clinton spent years blaming Bush Sr. for everything bad and the Neo-Cons spent years blaming Clinton for everything bad, don't you think we can easily extract some reality that maybe the economy and real estate were buckling under their own debt-vaccuum and the automakers just generally suck at running businesses? And as for healthcare, politicians from both sides have been making noise about the system breaking in a matter of years. Can anyone really say that all was just hunky-dory with everything until Puff the Magic Negro as inaugurated?
