Question - how do we get boats under 30ft to participate in poker runs?

I just came across this thread a day late and a dollar short as usual . Perfect timing for me after being at the Glen Cove poker run this past weekend with a 288.

I'm been boating my whole life but I am new to performance boating . Over the last 2 years I have ran in a few poker & fun runs and enjoyed all of them.I like seeing all the exotic hardware and the comradery between everyone.

I made the run down the Hudson from the Bear Mountain Bridge down to Glen Cove for the run . I wasnt sure if I was going to enter or not but when I arrived I realized there was some serious iron at the run and I was the equivilent of a dingy so I decided not to run .

I decided I would just run along side as long as I could and enjoy the show. Unfortunatley is was all of about a mile before I couldnt even see the rooster tails in the distance. Myself and 3 or 4 smaller boats wound up just cutting the course and waiting at another stop to watch the big guys come flying by. All in all it was a great day and I had alot of fun even if I didnt enter.

Here are my 2 cents for more particpation for the 30 and under crowd... I would like to see the 2 courses at poker runs (faster & slower ).The groups would leave together (faster boats out front) so everyone would participate in the start parade. The faster group would run a longer course and cover more distance between stops and the slower would have a shorter course with shorter runs between stops . It would be figured out by average speeds for each group to have both groups returning back around the same time for the end of the run party... Just my 2 cents

BTW...Great thread thanks for thinking of us little guys.
