Powerboat Magazine

:(
Negative ghostrider. Powerboat magazine still produces 11 issues a year. I know Extreme boats went to bi-monthly before the rumors of them closing shop were circulating.

I would not second guess that they closed up shop after taking so much of our money, again it's not the money it's the fact that I got taken for a ride:boxing_smiley::ack2::leaving:

I had a two year subscription that I bought at the NYC boat show. PB stopped sending me issues 7 mnts before my subscription was over. I called there customer service told them about my problem and they said they had me listed as a "complimentary subscription". I still had my receipt so I gave them the info and they sent me the back issues I was missing plus resigned me for a 1 yr subscription on there dime.

Hey Hey....before it was known as Powerboat, it was Hot Boat and before that it was West Coast Boating News.

I have been subscribing and buying off the stand since 1958.....I was racing then too!!!

Man alive!!!!!! I can't believe that picture......nice hair do...was that a "D A"?

Boat looks like a Chris Craft kit....... correct?

P.S. I started racing at about the same time, but I was about 9.

:p

I love it when I can correct you......that boat was a cold molded Whirlwind. The kissing cousin to a Yellowjacket.

The race number is 7 and with that number I came in 2nd in the 84 mile Narragansett Bay Marathon...next year I got number 6 and won....and have had 6 or 6o or 66 for everything I raced after that boats and cars.

I was only 6 in that picture....but I was big for my age.....since you are older than me and dirt too.

Tank,

Just for clarification

This comes from Powerboat web site

1 Year (8 Issues) - $29

Seems they have gone to 8 times a year

I miss the once a month but it is a tough economy hope they can hang in there

OK, OK, sorry for the confussion...I guess I missed the memo last month when they decided to cut back from 11 to 8 issues a year. However, for the 09 year you'll be seeing 9 issues total. Gregg explained that with the economy in the dumps the builders and suppliers are not advertising as much and it is understandably affecting their bottom line. However, the economy will not affect the great stories, tests and coverage we've all come accustome to seeing.

8 issues a year until the economy recovers, then it'll be back up to 11.

But you don't have to worry about them going anywhere.

And for anyone that has attempted to contact PBM via email and through the numbers listed and is still having a problem, PM me and I'll get to the bottom of it for you.

Tank.

Just no 666 Charlie....:sifone:

My Hotboat notice said they did. And for all you youngin's, I've only subscribed to them since 1978 I think. I'll have to check old issues.

That's when I started my subscription with Powerboat...still have almost every issue....don't know what I'm gonna do with them but they are pretty cool to look at the older ones especially the winter...

It does suck when a mag you like goes away...besides Powerboat I used to get Open Wheel until they were bought and low and behold they started to shrink until they were just a section in Stock Car Racing mag....

I do miss the Bob Nordskog days. When he test drove a boat and found issues, he didn't pull any punches. :lurk5:

So true, I remember one where the boat he wouldn't recommend to anyone at any price....:ack2:
