That was terrible for Randy. But, he was also vbery lucky.
The only good thing to come out of that wreck was that the UIM and APBA, after they had representatives saw how that boat was built, are finally requiring all new boats to meet the basic safety standards of the APBA and UIM rules. No more of this bypass of safety requirements to make boats faster.
All existing boats are supposed to be modified to the base safety standards by next season to be allowed to race then.
I sure hope they can make it happen!
