Pictures at a funeral...

Sorry to hear that Mark, tough loss.

When I lost both my parents in a car crash a couple years ago pictures were taken but not shared with anyone unless they specifically asked. As of now only us four children have pics that I know of, and I've never looked.

However, maybe someday when I'm really old, (no comments boys and girls), I may. At least they are around if I do.

My opinion is ask the family and whatever their wishes are, go with that.

I'm not really a picture person. I got a friend of the family (who actually does photography on the side) to do it for $250 and just sent me the CD. I can distribute to anyone who wants them.

9K is over the top.....you should hire one guy for the ceremony/reception but cut it to 8 hours and get the price down to less than 5K... Then put disposable cameras on the tables and let your guests be your paparazzi! Some of the pics will probably be the best in your album!

Part of getting married is learning to pick my battles. This was a win-win!

This photographer does "documentary style" which is catching people in action and non-intrusive vs "posed pictures".

That means I only have to do about 10 shots of posed pictures after the "I Do's" and then I'm off to do my preferred kind of "shots". Win win!!

ps- that was sticker price; what we picked out is around $5500 for every thing. Now back to that picking your battles thing? I happened to get her to agree on a new GPS right around the same time I agreed to this picture deal. I like how this compromise stuff works!!!

I was at a funeral yesterday. It was a military funeral at the Florida National Cemetery. The deceased was buried with full Military honors and the men in uniform did have a camera and they took pictures of the flag-folding, gun salute and the final respects. FYI.

Thank you. He was the father of one of my best friends and was also a very good friend to my family; he served two tours in the US Occupational army in Tokyo, Japan and then again in Korea. The family had no objections to the photography, and in fact was glad to have the services photographed for remembrance.
