I feel for you. This is tough. Losing a pet is not much different from losing a human. We lost two cats and a dog over the past 2 years. It is awful, but gets better with time. Your gave him a great family and home to live life with. That's more than most animals get.

I said the same thing twelve years ago, and now I've got three that are 11 years old.

Sorry for your loss, I guess we all know the feeling and it sucks. I lost my Siamese cat after 17 years a couple years ago. Said I wouldn't get another pet but 6 months ago this little fellow showed up needing food and a home. I named him Jerry after my best friend that had just pasted away. I used to give my buddy Jerry a hard time all the time. So now I just pick on the cat.

Sorry to hear. We had a Siamese "Mittens", grey with black paws. He was a gift from my Father to my Mother when my brother was born (1 year older than I). He was 18 and I was 17 when he passed- awesome cat!

My friend has a 6 toed cat named "Erine", she named him after Earnest Hemingway because of his 6 toed cats at his house in KW.

Sorry to hear this, brother. 17 years is getting up there for a cat, so think of all the enjoyment he brought into your life. This would be a perfect time to visit the shelter and put a four-legged present under the tree.

I thought about this thread last night- I've always had cats, and my little nutsack sleeps in the bed with me every night. Last night he rolled over on his back with legs pointing in every direction and started SNORING. First time I'd ever heard a cat snore- cracked me up and made me think of all the silly things our pets do that make them so lovable.

I SOOOOO know how you feel.....well sort-of. Yours was planned (which sucks) but you had time to "prepare". Mine was an un-expected shock. Not sure which is "worse" but they both SUCK!!!

Surprised to see this thread still going, figured a bunch of "A" personalities wouldn't soften up over a cat. Glad to see people still care about others. This is the first pet I've buried, I'm certainly going to be even MORE compassionate when others loose a pet!!!
