Well, that pass was close to the end of the second heat. A little background....
Although there was a full schedule that day, with two heats of P1 and three races of OSS, it was decided in the drivers meeting to have two heats in each race of OSS. That way, instead of just going out and maybe getting the clean water lead, the overall points between finishes of the two heats in each class would determine the finishing places. Great idea, everyone was on board. You guys may not think this means much, but in Cat Lite the total difference between first and second, 3 seconds......
Anyway, the P4 guys were scheduled to originally run a 6 lap race. So, without any changes at all, they would be running two 3 lap heats for the win. After the drivers meeting, the guys from Unleashed came up to Jim Simmons and said they thought two 3 lap heats were kind of short, would it be okay with Jim if they changed it to two 4 lap heats? Jim said sure, but Scott, Daredevil, had already left the meeting area and he may not have enough fuel. So, they all got together in the pits, Scott said he would add fuel, even though they did not have the race fuel he normally burned he could get by with adding 93 octane to his tanks and with that mixing in with the race fuel he had, he would be okay. So, done deal, off to the races later..
Now, if you notice on some of these following pics, and the pass earlier, Unleashed is missing.
They ran out of fuel with about 1 lap to go in heat number 2.......
But, it was a very good set of heats. And yes, Scott is running good. He improved all of last year, finishing almost every race he started. And he was in the thick of things in Biloxi, finishing second. The boats were close.
Enjoy some of these pics....
