I under stand the brake clean, but the compressor has me stumped, is it just to blow stuff out after the brake cleaner ?

Yes, clean clean clean. The idle passage holes are small. The carbs are pretty simple. It is important to set all the linkages properly when you reassemble it.

a buddy who is a mechanic found some melted wiring on the right side of the motor,I am waiting on him to go to murray marine to buy replacement wires, I am too sunburned to go out there today and mess with it:ack2:

Funny, my Yammy was doing nearly the same thing (sans melted wiring) and it turned out to be plugs and a dead coil pack. It would run (terrible) on the hose, but wouldn't run with any load in the water.
