Just to also let everyone know a side story of the weekend. During the race on Sunday OSS was notified of of a vessel sinking off the coast. OSS sent there assets (helicopters) to find the sinking boat. They found the boat and sent in the location to the coast guard. The children and adults were all pulled from the water. There boat had sunk! Thanks OSS and our divers.

That made the effort of the weekend worth it right there boats or no boats . We need more stories like that . Maybe matt trulio could turn that into something

The Coast Guard call came between the third and fourth races on Sunday. One of the Marine Enforcement boats came hauling from the east end of the course, out the west end, and straight out to sea.

I watched the helos and the enforcement boat through my binocs until I couldn't see either anymore. The boat had to be way out.

The funny/sad part, so many people were complaining about the delay, and not a one of us had a clue there was a life and death situation going on way out in the gulf.

I believe there was something like four adults and seven children rescued.

Sure makes a delay seem trivial.

Thanks to OSS for making the right decision in a really big hurry.....

Great Job, I have heard several stories where Resuce Teams have played a big role outside of the races. That goes along way with the communities.

Actually, Coast Guard was all over it doing what they do so well. OSS made the decision to delay race 4, send helicopter with divers to expedite confirmation of exact location of sinking vessel and avail any further assistance as needed. All the dogs on board were rescued as well. It was the right thing to do.
