The Solomons Business Association is a proud sponsor of the 4th annual Solomons Offshore Grand Prix, to be held on the Solomons waterfront September 13, 14 and 15. The event is presented by the Chesapeake Bay Power Boat Association (CBPBA), Offshore Powerboat Association (OPA) Racing and Bayside Chevrolet.

You’ll find an enormous number of events and activities for race fans and the entire family, so plan to bring the kids. Visit the competitors in the Dry Pits, at the county boat ramp under the T.J. Bridge. Here you can climb inside the boats for photos, meet the drivers and throttlemen, and get autographs! Get to know the teams; you’ll have a greater stake in the race outcome, and you’ll know who to root for! Watch the boats craned in, enjoy music, games, food and fun throughout Solomons. This is fabulous entertainment, at little to no cost! The races kick off at noon on Sunday! For more race details and pre-race events including the Golf Tournament, Poker Run and Parade, see: Solomons Offshore Grand Prix presented by Bayside Chevrolet

For the 2010 – 2012 races in Solomons, the residents and business community of Solomons Island opened up and welcomed racers and fans alike. The town was buzzing all weekend, with over 15,000 fans! This year we expect even more fans, so book early, and come to stay! Get involved, immerse yourself in the atmosphere, and prepare to thoroughly enjoy the experience. It’s an adrenaline junky’s nirvana!

If what I heard, happened, he deserved the beating he got. Its a shame this happens after so much work put in by the promoter. Mike ...time to rethink 2014.

it absolutely amazes me that this continues to happen. TRUE Colors have come out yet once again. Yet you guys love racing so much that you are willing to overlook this behavior. I hope you guys are proud of your leader and his children.

From what I've heard, different town, different bouncers, different bar, but same participants as Orange Beach but with this time a knife plus jail plus hospital. I'm sure we'll hear more since it's the second time. Sometimes you just gotta say, Huh??????

A 41 boat turnout for the championships made Solomons the largest turnout of the season. The new Class 7, with a 6 boat field in only their second race, was the second largest field, tied with Class 5, behind Class 6.

I haven't been to a race that I didn't enjoy. There really wasn't any neck to neck racing until you got to the class 5,6 & 7. I was hopping for some stiff completion in the SVL class. Typhoon led the first couple laps by a nice lead, but then got over taken by Tug It, never got close again. I was looking forward to seeing the new fountain "Absolutely Not" run, but after a few lap he broke down.

I'll have to give Mark a call and see what happened to Absolutely Not. It sure is a good looking boat...(For a Fountain!:sifone:)

Guy's
It was two in the hospital.
Josh and Jeff.
Josh - Bruised right leg to the bone & bruised elbow
Eric - ok
Jeff - damaged right rotator cuff & left knee
Everybody is ok, just bruised up but everything will heal.
We spun out. I think the boat took more of a hit.
Jason Saris from Performance Marine in Bolton Landing, New York
is putting it back togather for 2014.
Thanks,
Jeff
