On Board Camera Systems

Been looking around for a system and found a bunch of cameras that are simply mounted like GoPro and so forth...

The only thorough system with multiple cameras I have found that sort of fits the bill is this;

Does anyone have other similar systems?

http://www.edgecameras.com/rallycam4100.html

The "RallyCam 4000" is a complete Video Processor system designed to show two, three, or four pictures when recording, and draws power directly from the vehicle battery via the included 12volt accessory plug, or through hard wiring (using the hard-wire instruction card). This system can last approximately 30 hours with a 16 gig SD card (with DVR in "WEB" mode). The system is built inside a crushproof, waterproof 8.81"x 5.18"x 3.08" (22.39x 13.14x 7.83cm) container for Motorsports and Mobile applications. It includes four 520 TV line color bullet cameras that connect to the side of box and one power cable that connects from the box to the vehicle power. We include two audio options, an external mic or an RCA cable for you to attach your intercom directly into the box. This allows you to record your intercom directly onto the video. The system includes a DVR that will also show in PIP (picture-in-picture) and allows you to record at 720x480 resolution at 30fps. This system records in ASF format.

This system Includes:

* 4 520 TV Line Cameras with 3 foot / 1 meter cables
* DVR (720x480 at 30fps)
* RCA Audio Cable to plug into Intercom System
* External Microphone
* 4 Gig SD Memory Card
* 4 Mounts of choice
* 4 small coupling arms for mounting
* DVR charger
* USB Download Cable
* 12 Volt accessory plug
* Remote Control
* ArcSoft Editing Software (for PC use)

Get in touch with Brad Zastrow...don't know if he's on over here, but he's on the "other" site. If you can't swing that...shoot me a pm, I've got his email.

talk to skater40 from this site with the new predator skater. The system on his new boat is real nice. Camera's are only 1 inch tall and maybe 2 inches long in stainless steel

1,400.00 are you nuts. Geeezzze, go and buy a nice digital camera/mpv and mount it to the deck or any where. threaded base on all cameras for tripod. All HD quality.

Attached You tube is the Cheapest example I can give You of a standard Kodak Easyshare V1003 Camera used as a movie. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8WCkEoMmIU

I paid 100.00 for that camera, 14 times less than that other setup. Seriously, buy a 400.00 camera and mount it useing its threaded base. I bet they sell even a 8 gig SD card and away you go. Some cameras have a remote Zoom lens. after your done for the day take it home and use it for your family and personals.
Just my 2 Cents.

After some research and the excellent input I will end up getting an HD high quality Digital Video Camera and just hang the effing thing for it's dear life looking out like in the videos of the races when DOI raced in '01... More versatility.

we used a regular video camera with a remote lense hooked to my headset
we called it Helmet cam

That way you get a bit of prospective not just a one point shoot It actually worked out quite well and you video what you are looking at not just what the boat is pointed at
