Nick Fairley(notes) was listed as limited on the injury report by the Detroit Lions but the rookie first-round draft pick is hoping to make his debut Monday night when the Detroit Lions host the Chicago Bears at Ford Field.
“I've just been messing with them, saying that 'I've been behind y'all since Day 1, eating y'all's crumbs, and it's time for me to get a meal,'" Fairley said, according to Tim Twentyman of the Detroit News.
"I'm just ready to get out there, I'm hungry."
The Lions have been cautious with Fairley as he returns from a fractured foot suffered Aug. 1 that led to surgery two days later. He says practice has been going well for him and it’s certainly a big game for the Lions (4-0).
"I can tell you that he's improving every day and he's working hard to get back on the field as soon as he can," Lions coach Jim Schwartz said. "When he does, he'll play good football for us."
