Toms River, NJ, March 23rd , 2010 - The New Jersey Performance Powerboat Club (NJPPC) recently hosted it’s annual Atlantic City Winter Party at Trump Marina Hotel & Casino. On that evening, it was announced that member Joe Nasso would be inducted into NJPPC’s Hall of Fame as it’s 2009 Powerboater of the Year. Among the NJPPC members and the poker run circuit he is better known as “Bazooka Joe!”

Joe first joined NJPPC back in 1999 and since then, Joe has attended almost every single official and unofficial NJPPC event there has ever been. From 1999 until a few years ago, Joe had attended NJPPC events as a crew member for several different friends who happened to be NJPPC members. A few years ago, Joe acquired a new Concept 36’ Center Console for himself from longtime sponsor Typhoon Performance Marine.

Ever since Joe became a member of NJPPC, he has always shown up to events asking “What can I do? Or “How can I help?” Because of Joe’s affable ready to lend a hand nature, the NJPPC Planning Committee asked Joe to fill a vacant seat on the Committee five years ago.

Not only does Joe volunteer himself and his time to the club, but he also offers up the help of his employees who work for his electrical contracting company. This has always been done while they are all still on his clock.

He also volunteers himself and his boat for all of our Wave Runner Poker Runs. His boat allows Tim Sharkey of Sharkey Images to have the perfect platform to take killer photos from. Joe has also taken some of the local press out to give them a firsthand look at our waterways when a serious situation arises.

Shore Dreams For Kids is also a cause that has been very near and dear to his heart. Last year at our Atlantic City Poker Run, Joe showed up with over $1,000 in Sports and Hollywood memorabilia to donate to our Charity Auction that evening. At the end of the night, the auction turned the memorabilia into over $3,000.

Joe has also participated in other poker runs reaching as far as Canada and Florida. When he travels, he is a vocal supporter of NJPPC and talks up our club wherever he goes. More importantly, he also serves as an important good will ambassador to other poker run clubs on NJPPC’s behalf such as Florida Powerboat Club.

Joe’s passion and dedication to NJPPC and overall positive attitude has been an asset to NJPPC. He exemplifies what New Jersey Performance Powerboat Club is all about and what the club stands for. He also shares everyone’s passion for powerboating as well as being extremely generous of his time and assets. For all of these reasons, we proudly believe that Joe is all too deserving of being named 2009’s NJPPC Powerboater of the Year.
