News paper ad 1944

In both your examples (WTC & Pearl Harbor) the BIG difference is we were at war when we attacked; we weren't at war when we were attacked. We were/are reacting to being attacked and now at war, if they would have never attacked us we wouldn't have been at war (well at least not over these 2 reasons in this example).

BIG, BIG difference

At the risk of digging myself deeper into a hole, I don't see your point. Are you saying that WTC and Pearl Harbor are different? If so, how?

If you are simply saying that since we were officially at war when we dropped two atomic bombs on Japanese cities, then it doesn't "count" because the Japanese attacks happened before we we declared war on Japan? Do we still "owe" them a surprise attack?

I'm confused... :(

I don't see what side you are arguing. We hadn't attacked any Saudi's befor WTC. The Japs had killed hundreds of thousands of Allied troops before we dropped the bomb. We had already firebombed their cities where to bombers dropping the bombs had to escape the rising air from the fires. They didn't show any signs of surrendering.

I know this is unpopular discussion but what country/government/army do the terrorists we've been dealing with represent ? If we were to defeat them how would they surrender ? as a mob, an army or a government ?
and don't say nuke the whole Muslim world.

Us bombing Japan was a reaction to them attacking us. Same with our response to the WTC attacks. We were reacting and didn't initiate.

If Japan didn't bomb Pearl Harbor, they would have never met Fat Man and Little Boy.

If terrorists didn't attack the WTC, they would have never met the US Marine Corps.

Just saying- they just got what they asked for, we didn't go pick a fight; they picked the fight with us.

I hate to tell you boys, but I fear this is a problem that is too big for even us. These are "world" problems. The place has changed and like it or not things are diff and will never be the same as they were prior to 2007.

Our govt and EVERY official is sooooo corrupt that we've been sleeping with the enemy for so long we forgot who we are actually married to. That red white and blue BS is a myth. The govt's been at the root of these problems. It's just now that we have such technology and communication on a worldwide scale that many of these things are coming out.

Good question, we aren't dealing with a country per-say, but an ideal. one that radical Muslims carry with them no matter where they live, hence the terror all over the globe with different factions claiming control for their version/interpretation of the religion.

I never doubted the need to drop the atomic bombs on Japan. My dad served in the Pacific Fleet during WWII, so I know that those two atomic bombs probably saved his life.

However, posting old (possibly racist) newspaper ads from the 1940's don't serve any useful purpose.

Just my two-cents...

Japanese are not a race, they are a nationality;)
