Thought you guys might like to see our new boat - there is a thread on boatmad.com about the build from drawings to plug, mould and boat - here's what we ended up racing last weekend:

One showing the aggressive vents for the steps

And behind it one of the other boat we build for racing the Phantom (no relation) 19

The spec is:

34' from the bottom of the transom to the tip of the bow
7'4" beam
4 seats with harnesses and air
All Raymarine electronics with two 14" widescreen display, three ST70+ displays and a VHF - AIS to follow.
Twin Yanmar 260's (they are based on the 3 litre current model BMW block)
Arnesons
3,000kg
65mph in the rough first time out, looking for 70mph+

By the way the geometry of the steps isn't that revolutionary but the size of the vents are quite large - this gives us better acceleration and reduces the suction when water tries to close the vent off.

They do don't they! Don't forget this boat is for Serious Offshore conditions! :cheers2: We will remember to turn the Go Pro camera on next time we go testing, just about to fit a bow tank for extra rough water ability as well.

The "bustle" (rear end) is being fitted this week and really makes the boat look bigger and better.

We are attending a couple of events soon, I know you guys are all the way over the other side of the pond, but you never know if anyone is visiting.

Firstly, the boat is named the BananaShark Stirling after Ian Stirling who lost his life last year whilst racing during the construction of the moulds for the boat, and with permission of his partner. There is an event on the 6th and 7th of August in his honour in Charlestown, Cornwall, England - the boat will be there and have some champagne tipped over it for an official naming ceremony.

The following weekend (Saturday August 13th) we are having a bit of a party at the Island Street Bar and Grill in Salcombe, Devon where we are based. The bar has a deck that backs onto the creek, and as the high tide is at 8.30 in the evening it will be a perfect night for it - hope the weather holds off! We will also be launching our 2011 and 2012 sponsors E-Lites electronic cigarettes who will be with us for this years Cowes Torquay race and of course the Round Britain race next year - here roughly how the boat will look with the bustle on the back and the graphics:

its a cool looking boat for shure....the only thing they got away with the starkes ending like that is because at higher speeds the boats want to starke steer and a lot of stuff happend that way ..BAD stuff !!!!

u hit a wave at 80+ with the bow and not dead on ..the boat gets his own mind !

Hi everyone - Sorry for a bit of a gap in posting, Mr Unwin has been working his magic on the rams - we have them back now and they are fitted and bled - he very kindly brought them down last Friday as he doesn't trust couriers with precious cargo like these! We are getting on with the "Bustle" which is including the exhaust, it's all looking brilliant.

Still no further on with the measurement certificate issues ............

Also showing the bracing for the engine mounts and the internal structure for the exhausts.

Cookee, i have a question on Y ???

on the front of your hull ..where the satrkes meet the deck, why did u not release the airflow and try to catch it?

I think that aero dynamics are just as importent as hydro dynamics on a boat.

and i dont want to be a smarta$$ just trying to figure out your point of view and i think that u would get more lift and less air drag if the front pockets would been tappered to '0' at the top ....???!!!!!

that has to be one of the best looking boats i have ever seen.I am a little surprised at the speed you are getting.I would have thought it would be faster.especially with the surface drives.Is it a completely closed canopy? if not will it be in the future? I love it! How can i get one?

contact cokkee....he will be glad to sell u one and i think if i may answer your question on speed..its because of the diesels he has in it ..with 2 525's or bigger it would 100% scream !!!!:cheers2:

Sorry for the delay in replying - been a bit busy!

The Bustle is fitted but still in the workshop - we'll be back on the water next week - photos to follow!

600SCI - the whole design is for rough water offshore, we will be doing round Britain next year and Cowes Monte Carlo in 2013, and it's all about keeping the bow out of really big following seas.

Heater - As Ben says we have two 3 litre 260hp diesels and we think we're doing quite well with a 3000kg boat? We will be offering a 525 version for speed addicts! Email me at cookee@bananasharkracing.com for more information.

IMCO - I know where you're going with that - it's a stepped hull so we can't shorten it at the stern so it would need a totally new build to make a 30 foot version.
