I think your boat looks great! Your cabin doors are different then any I have seen. Is that something you added?

Mine has a crack in the fiberglass where the cabin door meets the instrument pod. Does yours show any signs of this issue?

When I bought my boat it came with the 4 teak doors. I cut the cabin door opening all the way to the other side. I then made a metal frame to re-enforce it. Then put in a track for the doors to bifold. When I cut the opening, I had a small crack forming. That's why I made the metal frame.

Does anybody have any suggestion on cleaning my fuel tanks? It's bee a little over 10 years since I ran the boat. I had the tanks rebuilt back then, so I don't want to pull the tanks again.

Did you cone up with a solution for cleaning the fuel tanks??

I pumped a little out of the tanks to see what was in there. It was still liquid "Barely". My plan is to put some new gas to mix with the old stuff. Drive it around on the trailer to mix it all up. Then pump it all out, and add all new fuel and cross my fingers.

In 1986 I saw my first 27, a '73 Maltese I believe. It's name was Big Red. It was said to have had the first TRS. It had the tall windshield and 255 Mercruisers. It was a stock as stock could be except for its bright red Imron.. I hope I can find a picture of it. Lenny owned the boat he is the one on the far right.



I was about 25 hanging with these guys working on the race boat, a stock class 22 Velocity with twin 200's. Many years have passed and my love of the nostalgia of old boats has only grown..

I now wonder if that was really the fist one as I look at yours and think that has to be the wildest one.

Thanks for your coments. When I was growing up, my Grandmother lived in Ft. Laudrdale. Her place was right on the Intercostal. I watched the boats run up and down the Intercostal all day long. Out of all of the boats that went by, the Maltese Magnum was my favorite. I knew I had to have one.

I will take a Maltese over a Sport any day and they were 2 miles per hr. faster per Magnum.Also who did your windshield? Bud

Yes it was 2 MPH faster,based on tank placement and aerodynamic deck. Bud

I tested fitted my engines this weekend. Hopefully for the last time. I bought some Alwgrip bildge paint. I stripped the bildge last night. Hopefully I can freshen the bildge this coming weekend.
