Motorcycles let's see them!

swingarm is +2 the new frame is the same length from pivolt bolt to a-arms as a 250R, A-arm mount geometry is the same as a 250r but with more rake. 15" of travel front and back. Motor has a few tricks, aftermarket bigbore cylinder with a cr 250 reedcage, dynoed in at just over 40hp (stock is 15) its apart right now waiting for me to aquir the motivation to do a +4 mm stroke with a long rod and some porting mods.. should put it over 50hp, it weighs within 5 pounds of a stock bike.

I have always wanted to build a 250r geometry banshee for woods racing. In the end it was much cheaper to just buy a 4 stroke 450. Hand built frame, or aftermarket?

A little bit of stock frame and a lot of cromoloy addition. The old C&J banshees (Doug Roll got his start working there) had honda front geometry and a no link offset shock swingarm. they were probably about the best handling desert quad I have ever riden. Sundahl raced them for years

All these old 250r builds and banshee builds used to be great. Then out came the 450's and IMO obsoleted the 250r. Right now used 250r and trx450 asking prices are equivalent. I'd take a machine 20 years newer any day of the week, since the geometry is almost the same.

As much as I miss the two strokes power delivery, I've grown accustomed to the modern thumper and the tractability that goes with it. I'm a dirt bike person all the way, but I got a chance to ride a decently worked honda trx450 and was extremely impressed. It had a 490 over bore kit, and an extended swing arm. This thing felt like a dirt bike ripping down the trail, if I the laws here weren't as bad as they are I'd own one. Dual sport is the only way to go anymore though.

Started out with dirt bikes but for the last 10 years doing lots of big miles .

-Just picked up this '80 Can Am 250 Qualifier. Been sitting in the back of my buddies barn since 1985. Cleaned the carb/tank and she fired up on the second kick!!!!:sifone:

Thoe old enduro bikes take me back a ways. Had a Penton Jackpiner, couple of CZ's and a whole flock of OSSA's.

Roads bikes were an assortment also. Kawasaki 500 triple, Kaw 750, Honda 900F and for a short time Suzuki water buffalo. Always wanted a open frame 900 Ducati, motorcycle art at it's best.

He's flying!On a serious note I owned a CZ 175cc way back when:confused: I believe it was 1967-1971 model great scrambler:iagree:

All my dirt bikes were from the 70's intoo the 80's. I quit about the tie they began to figure out how to make suspensions actually work ! My CZ's were bullet proof. The Ossa's were great also but kept having to replace Motoplats.

..Funny you mention Motoplat issues. I woke up my old 400 Penton last week. It ran great for about 5 minutes until the Motoplat went south. :ack2 What's a real bummer is I had three spares on the shelf for YEARS and sold them on ebay two weeks ago! :smash:
