yeah, we have a new president, yippie. everybody agrees the country is in deep sh!t and broke. our political system is in shambles, a good chunk of the world thinks we are azzholes. people are loosing their jobs, they are going hungry, they cant pay their heating bills. people are fawning over our first "black" president, who by the way is only half black, but then again weren't all men created equal? Color is irrelevant, he was the candidate with more charisma and better rhetoric. at rue leader in my opinion would have forsaken the parties, the hoopla and said " there is a lot of work to do, somebody order a couple pizzas and lets sit down and get to work. that would have been a statement, that would have shown respect for the American people. Today is not the day to party, today is the day to call the leaders of booth parties, the economists, the generals, foreign dignitaries and cabinet to the round table and say "where do we go from here? what are your concerns? whats working and whats not?? A party was held when the election was won. there is nothing more to celebrate until something is actually accomplished. There was no real history made today, but the actions of today can impact the course of history. parties and speeches don't impress me, actions and results do.

This post was the result of my own thinking, directly influenced by my life experiences and education. it is NOT cut and paste rhetoric and saber rattling by someone who's sole source of income is derived by political muckraking. As such I would expect all replies would come from the person posting, NOT 3rd party closed minded professional sh!t stirrers.

What I can't get over is the naievety of people's expecations surrounding the presidency... You'd think we'd just elected a magical elf that's going to make all our problems go away. Last I checked the same bunch of losers that got us into this mess are still in Congress. Hell, the same bunch of losers that got us into this mess are running the executive branch as well. They're all professional politicians and it doesn't matter which party they represent, the only interest any of those guys truly support is their own. It doesn't matter whether the bag is red or blue, if the bag is full of shiit, it's still just a bag of shiit...

Now where did I put my torch and my pitchfork?

I read in USA today where a poll was taken asking people how many of Obama's 10 key campaign promises he would accomplish. The poll results indicated he would accomplish all 10?? :ack2:

Really? And what makes him so special to accomplish something that none of our other 43 presidents were able to accomplish?

I will support our new president regardless of how I voted. However, the podium at which he has been placed upon in my opinion will only result in failure.

I hope I am proven wrong.

NOBODY can live up to the podium he has been put on.....

Unfortunately the rest of the world must think so also. The dollar is gaining strength in leaps and bounds.

Exactly .... people give the President way too much credit ... good and bad

I too feel exactly as you do. He's just a guy, no more, no less. I hope the best for him, because that means good things for the country, but that's all. And I bet money that a majority of O voters couldn't even name his 10 campaign promises or answer which way he would vote on them if they were told what they were. In fact, I would bet most of the media that dribbled down their legs every time he opened his mouth couldn't answer what his views were on most subjects.

Was 1 of'm, that he was gunna give Dentists a big tax break!!!!!????????:26::dupe:

What I think will be interesting to watch is how soon those who hoisted Obama to the lofty pedestal will turn on him and try to knock him from it.

It is very much a part of the American culture, as observed by a Canadian that you as a people love to elevate "celebrity" to great heights only to do your best to pick em off.

Obama has a staggering task ahead of him and I suspect at the first sign of trouble, the hounds will be released by the media and he, like so many before him will fall from the publics lust.

He may be the POTUS but I for one sure do not envy his future.
