I've looked around but can't find any spec info on the Merc. 454/330hp that lists torque and I wonder if anyone has ever truly dynoed a stock 330 to base line it.
with logs it was 330, upswept manifolds was about 340.... Crusader was 350/510 but they rated it 200 rpm more than Merc did, and they used smoother upswept risers, and the Qjet was jetted a tad fatter..

I know my later 7.4 Merc was 310hp/450 ft lbs of torque.
To put it in perspective going from a 300hp 350 to the 310hp 454 my Chapparal picked up
4mph just due to the fact I could run a larger prop and still get on plane due to the extra torque even though both engines made same hp. It actually got on plane much easier even with the bigger prop.
