Lucky boaters

That is a weird story, were they lost and didn't know which way land was?

I hope they get a bill.....:boxing_smiley:

Probably got far enough offshore they didn't know which way land was. Florida is pretty hard to miss.

Hopefully for christmas they will get a gps.....Or in theircase just tie a string to the dock and let it unwind as they go out :)

Must have been cloudy:confused:

Was crystal clear in JAX on Sunday. Not too bad yesterday, except for some tstorms that rolled through around 2 or so...Who knows where these guys were though...they sure didn't.

Pretty sad that a lot of boaters blew them off.

That's true. Actually illegal at sea......

actually, who knows if other boaters intentionally blew them off.... states that the didn't have proper safety gear..... I'm guessing no flares, smoke bombs signaling devices etc to let anyone know they were actually in distress....

Maybe they didn't want to interfere with nature taking its course......

how about just a $5 compass that you attach to your shirt. I wear these when snowmobiling just because it is easy to get turned around. If you lose a 1,000 mile shoreline though, WOW, may need some additional training!!! Scary that these folks are allowed out into the open water!!!!

compass my ass.... if your offshore from east coast of FL, the sun sets in the west... 4 oclock in the afternoon, you definitly know which way shore is.... they need a clue not a compass

I think it's the natural selection by nature, and the government keeps screwing that up too......:sifone:

If I am offshore a few miles and I see someone in distress you can be damn sure I look them over carefully before approaching to help.
