Lucky and Perfect. 10 Meter

Been a while. Last winter I was forced to redo port engine. It has new heads on a full rebuild. Installed it in time for Memorial Day.

I kept a log for the '17 season. Pumped tanks to empty, logged every gallon added to run it on 7 trips. Pumped dry again before I added 10 gallons of ethanol free fuel and changed all fluids.

Burned 567.01 gallons to cover 719.07 miles. No failures.

My second pair of heads recently arrived. Getting ready to freshen up starboard side. Also secured another pair of spare drives.

Took another big swing at her. Starboard engine new 509 to match port a year ago. New heads, and the works. Upgraded valve train again. 525 springs weren't controlling my valves. No failures but, bad signs showing. Crane replaced my new in '16 rockers under warranty. Thank you Crane!! . New sea pumps, new caps, wires, rotors, plugs both sides.
All new bearings port drive. New cross bearings both sides and on spares. New inside steering hoses too.

Just waiting for our rain to stop so I can go for a ride.

I have some pix to add. Still raining here nearly everyday. I only have an hour on the new starboard engine.

This shows original inside steering hoses that crossed over tail pieces and the new hoses that run straight across from thru hulls. Two reasons I did this. first is the old hoses were 33 years old. Second reason was they always made me crazy. Cluttered up rigging and had a high loop making it difficult to get all the air out. New routing should be self bleeding. We'll see.

This shows the outside of each engine along hullside. It also shows my new chrome fittings on new steering hoses.

One of my anal pet peeves is I hate seeing things cross over stringers. And double hate screws and adels on top too.

I was able to log two trips just shy of 3 hours total. Turns up 400 more rpms. She revs quickly to 5800. I have a pair of 27's coming my way.

Sounds like a different boat. She now idles, growls, and screams in harmony.

Lucky has been run hard 3 or 4 times this season. Runs great. Gonna try my new 27's once it cools off. Its been a 100 plus degrees for over a month now. Its hard to look forward to doing anything outside. Next trip planned is our Local run on September 14. I'll make sure to set up my Go Pro.

I have had my old girl for just over 10 years now. She's old but has seen lots of love. She lives inside with heat and AC. I have begun to imagine I time when she has moved on. There are few that will appreciate just how fine she is and how much time and effort was necessary to get to this point. So I guess she is un officially for sale. NOT ON SALE.
