Lead additive in unleaded fuel

For sake of conversation, say one were to add some thing like this to unleaded, E10 fuel.

Would it increase performance in a EFI marine application? If 1 bottle is good, if it in fact is, would 2 bottles be better?

I think the purpose of that additive is to help lubricate the valves on 4 stroke engines that were designed to run on leaded fuel. I doubt there is any purpose for it in 2 stroke engines. I will let others correct me if I am wrong.

That is correct, the lead did add octane back in the day, but these additives do not have enough to make any difference. When the lead was taken out, they suddenly realized that the lead was lubricating the valve seats on older engines. When it was gone, the engines started eating up seats. Now they are made harder and do not need the lead or any other lubrication. A much smaller amount of lead is necessary to lubricate the seats than is needed to add octane.

What about the other additives to help with the Alcohol in the fuel Like Valvetect?

.

Valvetect is another lube product to help the seats, in most engines it is unnecessary, unless we are talking a pre-1976 car that has not had the valve seats done.

Is there anything that effectively counteracts the ill effects of the ethanol?

.

Lots of people are recommending Startron additive to stabilize the fuel and keep it fresh. It also helps with moisture some.

I have used that, Don't know if it helped or not. It isn't too expensive but it is hard to get in convenient quantity sized jugs.
