Lake Erie today

We made a trip back from Detroit to West Harbor one Sunday morning in 6 to 8's. 3 blade cleavers and a full load of fuel the boat woulnt plane. We broke loose several times and started sliping backwards in the trough only to be blasted foreward by the following sea. Thats a chitty feeling in a 28 Cig, the bilge pumps ran the whole trip and one of my passengers bled like a stuck pig for most of the trip after taking a bite out of a grab rail.

COM"ON YOU SON OF A *****! :D

I remember seeing you that weekend after that trip :ack2:

I have numerous stories of Erie, and they are all true.
Being lost on the lake in early November in my Dad's 24' Reinell in 10-12's (no exaggeration, some larger) and being chased out of the Camp Perry firing range is a good one.
Another is in my 25' Baja.
The group I hung with was going to head to PIB at like 8-9:00 in the morning. I had a few hours of work to do that morning, so couldn't leave with them. Me and a buddy got to my boat around 11-12:00, and everyone was getting back saying it was too rough, and they were going to take the Jet over.
I figured we could make it.
We were out in 5-7's. I could drive in the trough for 3 to 4 waves before the set broke and had nowhere to go but bow straight into a wave. No chance of getting on top of them in a 25' boat. We made it to PIB soaked and cold. Went straight to the beer barrel for a couple shots of warm-up juice.
This was a run from Rossford, I'm not talking about running from Catawba.
Geez, to be young and crazy again.

The river from Rossford to the bay was easy.
But you must have done 25 miles out in the lake like that.

There is 6" of snow.... and someone was out today in a blowboat!

I love boating but in these temps... nahh..... takes all the fun out!

I'd go out in a trawler with a good coffee maker and one of those family room style bridges. :sifone:

Is it too late for Perch?
