I see a lot of people shipping out Saturday; here is some advice:

Sunday has the name "Sunday Funday" for a reason!! I'd tell you more but honestly I don't remember most of Sunday Fundays most of the time.

Races on Sunday are twice as long as on Wednesday & Friday. I can't figure out who is racing who but last year they said some thing like 70% of the races mattered on Sunday- ie who won, won the Championship (and was allowed to put World Champion on their hull for life- LOL!).

Stay at some place other than a "time share" resort. I stay at the Gallion which has some rooms that are nightly but most are time shares are weekly (Sat-Sat). Find a hotel/resort nightly so you cna stay Sunday night.

Most of the time a Monday flight is cheaper than a Sunday flight and you get less hassle at the airport. Business frequent flyers fly Monday for business and know the TSA routine; Sunday flyers you have Dad and Fat Mom with 2 kids coming from Disney that have PITA kids coming down off week long sugar highs that don't know you have to take your shoes off at security and whine their $7 bottled water they just bought can be brought past the line.

Few other things to consider but if I could only make it one day; it would be Funday Sunday (or is that FUNDay Sunday?).

Key West's airport has been totally revamped so be prepared to be confused, the bar is now upstairs . should be a little easier leaving, I built the elevator shafts so use at your own risk.

Do they have A/C now? That sheet hole was hot the last few times I've been there (along with people that went native and dressed like a Village People video gone bad)

I agree, its just a LONG ride home after that:sifone: gotta figure out what day to take off from work, Friday, or Monday.

To me Sunday evening and Monday are dull, once the race is over it seems that even though a lot of people are still in town the atmosphere totally changes, sort of like the last day of a trade show. You live close enough that you drive, so it if was me I would take Friday off. You could get there Thursday night or at the crack of dawn on Friday and see both Friday and Sunday races plus get more party time in. I would think that the drive out of Key West Sunday evening might not be as bad as Monday since the bulk of the visitors and boats seem to leave. I have no choice, it would be impossible to get back to MI if we stayed and watched a full day of racing, so Monday is just a wasted travel day.

A/C ? it's fugging winter time and only 70 outside (which is cold as heck) man the fug up dolphin boy!!!!!!:sifone:

To me Sunday evening

Sunday evening? I've never made it past dusk that Sunday :sifone:

Monday is just a wasted travel day

Exactly! I'd rather waste a Monday than the Sunday was my whole point. Flight for me to Washington DC out of KW is either at 9:30 Sun AM or drive to mainland FL to MIA/FLL/ETC to catch a flight from there- either way I have a wasted travel day. TSA is not letting me any where near a plane after the races Sunday- more flammable than Jet A fuel.

Anyway- I'd think most people would have most of a day wasted in travel to KW. Check in, fly home, leave airport, drive home, etc- not even throwing in if a non-stop- I have about 5-6 hours just to DC.

I'd rather be the last one leaving KW than have to leave hearing ILMOR V10's at 7K RPM still roaring in the back ground.

Exactly what I have done in the past, in fact I used to work 3rd. shift, Sunday night to friday morning. Leave West Palm at 7 AM Friday, party all weekend, leave Key west after the races Sunday, and drive straight to work:ack2: I am not that crazy now, see y'all friday??? Maybe??

We will be there Wednesday to Monday AND GETTING MARRIED Saturday night at the Pier House!

Were in.
Congrats on the marriage, We were married at the pier house 7 7 07.
Look up, we are on the third floor corner balcony right above the little beach area where you will probably be. I think its room 301 if you need a cold Coors Light to calm your nerves.
