So we hit Lauderdale yesterday late AM. Grabbed the Gladiator and headed to the ramp. We stopped to get fuel at a station and while we were poking around, we noticed that one of the gimbal pins was missing from the ring- BIG problem. Nothing like having the entire outdrive torn off...
Anyway, a quick call to John Tomlinson and 5 minutes later we were off to his drive shop. After about 5 minutes of looking, John's guy Matt is already throwing tools. We split for a quick burger and by the time we got back, they were just buttoning it up. They pulled the drive and got a new bushing into the gimbal- and while they were there, found and fixed a leaking seal on the input shaft. They even pulled the pin on the opposite side and fixed the broken retainer screw.
So we hit the water, parked the trailer andf got everyone on board- and by this time the sun was getting low on the horizon. We made Haulover just in time to be able to see it
.
The ride down was a whole other story- the wind was blowing pretty hard and there were a few big holes out there. We had a couple of exits where you could count tothree or four before you came back down.
Anyway, big thanks go out to JT, Matt and the team at TNT for getting us out so quiclyly- they saved a weekend for a boatload of guys.
