The 32nd annual Salmon River Jet Boat Races are Friday through Sunday in Riggins.
The Show & Shine boat show and welcome barbecue are at 6 p.m. Friday at the Salmon Rapids Lodge.
Races are staged all day Saturday and Sunday, and there is a fireworks display Saturday night.
The spot to watch is Time Zone Rapid, at the bridge north of Riggins where you cross into the Pacific Time Zone. A jetboat sank there in the races three years ago.
“Time Zone Rapid is a boat eater,” said Rick White, a longtime jetboat mechanic and father of Meridian racer Shay White.
Added Shay: “There’s a lot of guys who have lost boats in Time Zone and you don’t see them (racing) afterward.”
