It's raining!!

This is the first rain I've had in about 4 months.
It smells good.
I forgot how good a fresh rain smells. I guess I've gotten used to the dry and the dust.
I'm looking forward to monsoon season.

With all due respect, you sir... suck.

We have had rain for freaking weeks because of this cut-off low. The dam weather has been moving east to west. I had to mow my lawn at 8am Tuesday morning because it was the only moment it has been dry enough. We are more than 6" above average so far this year, with 18 inches of rain since Jan 1. At least that will help the lake level a little bit. If it stops.

Meanwhile in the mississippi watershed they are opening spillways and floods have exceeded 1927 records.

It doesn't rain here nearly enough.. It is hard to imagine after most of my life hating rain how much I enjoy it now. It feels good and smells great.

We need it bad!

I don't believe too much in global warming, but I do believe in strange new weather patterns. Seems like feast or famine more and more.

John - I know you guys up there have been in a swamp land for month's, and as the seasons go, you're at least a month behind "normal".

Out here, it's really strange to me, because we only get a rain every few months. Last night, the smell of the fresh rain was just really refreshing. It brought the humidty level up a little, was cooling, and just felt nice.

We are in and settled. Still lots of boxes stowed in closets but comfortable. We are both busting ass working for our numerous plans.

We are very lucky. All is good. Still have not got the boat home.. Soon I hope. Gonna blow the cobwebs out and clean the dirt off this weekend. Get a ride or two in before our lake drys up.

It was odd being in Mississippi over the weekend while they were opening the spillways etc.Flying, we transferred in Memphis and had some decent viewes of the river....

Reminds me of flying into St. Louis in 93 during the mississippi flood. Then driving on the e-ways. You would think that you saw the "edge" of the river until another line of trees, a roof, or a utility pole went by.

I don't even have grass - none.
But, I have plenty of desert landscape and plants.
NOTE: EVERY desert plant has something that is going to poke you and hurt. I have not encountered a SINGLE thing that grows in the desert that doesn't have a method to hurting you.

I always remember launching for the season on the second or third weekend of April.
We always made "marina opening day" a whole day party. Everybody helping each other set up their docks and permanent lines. Shaking out some winter gremlins from everybody's boat... etc. Drinking beer all day, and a steak roast in the afternoon when the work was done.
That may have been the best day of the season.
