Wash. bloodmobile offers beer to blood donors

Jan 11, 4:29 PM (ET)

TACOMA, Wash. (AP) - A Washington state blood center is offering donors a deal: Give a pint of blood, get a pint of beer. Cascade Regional Blood Services in Tacoma says its "Give blood, get beer" promotion has worked so well that it's being expanded.
The News Tribune of Tacoma reported Monday that donors who are at least 21 years old are given a coupon for a free pint of beer.
Participating pubs and restaurants must wait at least four hours after the blood drive ends before donors can collect their free pint.
Cascade's director of donor resources Dan Schmitt says it's a fun way to get more donors, and it's good for the participating businesses as well.

I remember being told that anemic patients in British hospitals were offered a pint of Guinness a day.

Cant substantiate that but I did find this Q&A on Guinness facts. Personally I cant stomach the stuff, but if I were stuck in a hospital bed I'd be all over it.:cheers2:

Q: Guinness has been dispensed in hospitals, correct?

A: Yes. In England, post-operative patients used to be given
Guinness, as were blood donors. Sadly, this is no longer the
case in England. In Ireland, Guinness is still made available
to blood donors and stomach and intestinal post-operative
patients.

I want to see the guy that hangs around for four hours for a free beer.

More importantly, I'm a little concerned about them putting his blood in me.
