Intelligent Diplomacy and Statesmanship- Obama For the Win

You cant be serious.

Putin is doing everything within his power to roll back the democratic reforms enacted in Russia.

When I read it, I assumed he meant in a bar fight... and I was leaning toward Putin.
Now that I see it in the light of who is worse, a communist or a socialist... I would say that the communist is worse.

I just can't see O standing up to Putin over anything. The Russians are already taking liberties they wouldn't have tried if Regan was in office. The North Koreans most likely would not have shot off any missles, for fear of getting a couple of them back.

Yeah, I was referring to a bar fight.

I think Cuda must have knocked Jay's bong over to illicit such harsh responses( dude, that water was at woodstock !)

I suppose that illicit is the right word in this case.

Otherwise you would have wanted to use elicit. (1605) Or, if this is a scholarly contest to use the very oldest words possible, you could go all the way back to the latin. Elicere.

Btw... the most common current usage of "screed" is when someone is exhaling and trying to say "screen" and "weed" at the same time.

Actually if you google Andrew+Sullivan+Screed you will find that it's most common usage today seems to be people talking about his "screeds". :seeya:

I'm not sure why Russia is an enemy we have to deal with right now, China is an enemy we have to deal with right now, Venezuela is an enemy we have to deal with right now, Cuba is an enemy we have to deal with right now, Iran is an enemy we have to deal with right now, North Korea is an enemy we have to deal with right now, etc.

Last time I checked even the best NFL team can only play one game at a time. And, usually, when you take your focus off the current game at hand and start concentrating on the next game, you usually lose the current game. Example: Invade Afghanistan, then focus on Iraq.

We have national security and foreign policy concerns regarding many countries, but let's not take our focus away from the wars at hand. The easiest way to demoralize your military is to set them up for likely failure. By worrying about Communists, Gays, the domestic War on Drugs, the unilateral global War on Terror, we are impuning the military's ability to win a major conflict.

And as we all know, there are no points for second place.

(Damn, I forgot to put something funny again.)

Geez, Ted...
if ya google short+republican+wingnut+most+in+need+of+a+life does your name come up at the top of the results? :reddevil:

If you picked Putin for the bar fight, I am with you. :D

When Bush said he looked into Putin's eyes and saw his soul, I gasped. It confirmed that Bush, like most people, have no idea how to read people. This is not a knock on Bush, it's reality. More people have died at Putin's bare hands than have consumed alcohol and drugs with Bush. Putin is the Jason Bourne of the Dark Side. He is one dude I would avoid eye contact with. He is the reason Russian hookers love to be slapped.

Always gotta make it personal huh Jay? Too bad, I figured you were making a little progress, no problem, we are all in agreement here, I will take my place and my life, you are consigned to yours. At least I know when the personal attacks start that I was right, and you, as usual, backed the wrong team.

Yes, wrong team indeed.

MOSCOW (AP) - A top Russian security official says Moscow reserves the right to conduct pre-emptive nuclear strikes to safeguard the country against aggression on both a large and a local scale, according to a newspaper interview published Wednesday.

Presidential Security Council chief Nikolai Patrushev also singled out the U.S. and NATO, saying Moscow's Cold War foes still pose potential threats to Russia despite what he called a global trend toward local conflicts.

The interview appeared in the daily Izvestia during a visit by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, as U.S. and Russian negotiators try to hammer out a nuclear arms reduction treaty by December. It also came amid grumbling in Moscow over U.S. moves to modify plans for a missile shield near Russia's borders rather than ditch the idea outright.

Patrushev said a sweeping document on military policy including a passage on preventative nuclear force will be handed to President Dmitry Medvedev by the end of the year, according to Izvestia.

Diplomacy working well for the team:

BEIJING (Reuters) - Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin on Wednesday warned major powers against intimidating Iran and said that talk of sanctions against the Islamic Republic was "premature".

"There is no need to frighten the Iranians," Putin told reporters in Beijing.

"We need to look for a compromise. If a compromise is not found, and the discussions end in a fiasco, then we will see," he said, adding that talks of sanctions was "premature" at present.

Where is O's "Mission Accomplished" banner Jay? Perhaps you could make him a nice poster?

Well, there's some diplomacy and statesmanship for ya! Give them one thing: Balls!

We're obviously fvcked for the next 3 or so years, but hopefully one day we'll once again have some leadership with a little bit of courage and some good old testicular fortitude, because those qualities are seriously lacking right now. Enjoy the next few years folks, while we watch our fearless leader cower, grovel, apologize meanwhile drive the dollar into the ground, spread the wealth so thin that there will be few left who are worth a damn within our borders, and take, take take. Watch in amazement while the rest of the world mocks and belittles us, while we beg for a sanction, or permission to burn our own resources. Behold the power of cool, as we embarrass ourselves in feats of wondrous statesmanship befitting of a beggar in a country club. It's a dawn of a new age; some may even say an historic occasion.

Good stuff.

Surely you guys aren't implying that the Russians weren't taking Mrs. Clinton and her boss seriously...are you??

:rolleyes: :willy_nilly::rofl::rofl:
