While I sincerely hope that the remaining people will be rescued safely, I really can't feel sorry for them. From the story:

"they went out on the ice this morning as people had laid planks over the cracks in the ice. "

Why do people do what they do?

that happens every year..same area.... what gets worse..they rescue people..so when the people are back onshore, they go back out again on boats or whatever to gt their sleds, atv's, fishing gear etc back

That happens every year on Lake Winnebago in Wisconsin. Heck the fishing club puts out the ice bridges when the cracks get too big. They also plow a road out on the lake and mark it with old christmas trees. BTW the lake is 10 miles by 25 miles but only 30 feet deep:biggrinjester:
