I don't get too emotional, but this made me sad...

Maybe it is because it was about a place I love or because it was well done, but it is worth a watch.:(

I will also say I have yet to watch the end, because when the not so subtle comparison between LBJ's response to Betsy was shown with Bush's response to Katrina, I had to get up and walk off. :reddevil: I understand Russell Long's influence at the time and that he made LBJ do what he did, but that is no excuse for the response to Katrina.

Well, I watched the trailer, but I didn't see anything to get misty eyed about.

In the trailer it seemed that everyone was talking about the wetlands, not about eight years of Bush and the Katrina disaster (both the storm and the response).

Yes, the "wetlands" are becoming open water, and I believe it is man's fault. The Mississippi River carries tons of silt to its delta and creates the wetlands. Man has created dams and levys to prevent floods, but in doing so has not allowed the silt to be deposited in the wetlands.

You can read more here --> The Dying Louisiana Wetlands

If you want the wetlands to survive, you need to allow the river to flow (and flood). Blaiming Bush won't help.

The Katrina response sucked. However, the main blame stats with the people, mayor, and governor of Louisiana. That people would not evacuate because they didn't want to ride on school buses blows my mind.

The biggest issue I have though, why should we have to pay to rebuild homes where people would not buy the insurance needed to rebuild them themselves?

ANd that's the end:leaving:

having been through a few hurricanes myself, I find it hard to feel for people who aren't smart enough to stock up on water and basics when a big storm is coming. plus I find it is helpful not to shoot at the rescue teams.

Isn't it amazing that we hear NOTHING of Alabama and KATRINA. They got wiped out just as bad if not worse over a much larger area. And they got FEMA help but on a much smaller scale than NO. And there were no programs to spread hoodlums across the country like they did from NO, if you left, you left on your own. And yet we hear nothing about how terrible it was in Alabama....wonder why....couldn't have anything to do with the Governor and legislature could it? No, that would make most of the KATRINA horror either self induced or playing politics....nobody would do that....right?

Alabama? Didn't they lose the College Championship to the Gators! Useless state.

I kid, the whole event was a disaster. More than one state was affected, but our focus was on America's party city. If Vegas got nailed, you think anyone would worry about some po-dunk neighboring city?
