In Lauderdale this year I walked around the perf docks with a buddy who is looking at new boats, but none of the performance guys showed any interest in trying to sell a boat, they were all talking amongst themselves. I certainly am not going to interupt somebodys conversation to spend my $$$.

You know......THAT is sad. There are times late in the day at the show that I would pass on the chance to talk to someone in a display BUT one of the things that makes me love this is meeting people that are involved with Performance Boating. I like talking to people. Always did well at boat shows.

I mean...CMON!!! If I'm gonna be there...I'm finding someone to fvck with. Right?!

It is very sad. But along with a few buyers come alot of strokers with no intention of buying. A good salesperson should talk to everyone, but sometimes, after being stroked all day, they just want to go home and put on a clean pair of shorts.

Shows are exhausting if you are doing everything you should be. That means working all day, standing on hard concrete in the convention centers, talking to hundreds of people and neogiating deals and then heading out at night to network and see friends etc.

After a few days at a show like Miami or New York you're beat and by the end of the day it's tough to not ignore some people.

After a few days at a show like Miami or New York you're beat and by the end of the day it's tough to not ignore some people.

I definitely have respect for the good salesmen at boat shows. The guys that are there setting up the booth, working it open to close, then taking it down. I did it for a few years when we owned a marina/dealership, and dreaded show time because of all the behind the scenes BS that is neccessary. :ack2:

It can sure be fun as well! At least some of you guys get to do cool events as well. When you sell more skiboat/PC type stuff, the poker runs are few, and slooooow. :banghead::cheers2:

We've def had some fun over the years huh :sifone:. They are exhausting but they were/are really enjoyable. The hours and lack of sleep took a toll on me but where else can you make some serious money (when things were good) AND then party with a few hundred of your closest maniac friends all night?
