Hey Aug....you hang tuff bro. Sorry i wont be able to make it down there for the Season Opener but as most of you know i lost my mom 4/29/09 and now my father just went yesterday for a routine colonoscopy and they found a malignant tumor in his intestine. Im catchin a plane down to FLA, gonna go to his oncologist n surgeons appt w him Tuesday and hopefully drive his asssss back to Jersey w me where the surgery will take place....

Saw him last week in LBI. Looks great and was great to see him with and meet his son Augie jr.

He had multiple bypass surgery since then. I think it was on Tuesday.

My father in law just had 4 done not long ago but has now finally been cleared to drive again.

It will be a little while before Augie is 100 %.
He's still young enough to bounce back pretty quick.

I spoke to my brother today he's doing OK .That picture in last post when I 1st met Augie in Key West race. It was hot and I was thirsty he tossed me a drink get well soon buddy!

not being familia with Augie's case, I can't comment specifically. I can give a little information to those concerned though. If I understand correctly he had multiple bypasses. the heart has it's own circulatory system seperate from the rest of the body. without getting overly complicated, a blood vessel is taken from another area of the body and grafted to the outside of the heart and connected so that blood flows into it. The actual operation is only part of the battle. As its impossible to connect all the little atreriols to it. Luckily it is one of the most regenerative parts of the body. In essence, its like putting the main plumbing line in a house and from there every single offshoot must grow itself new, thats why recovery takes so long. 6 bypasses is a major operation and from here he pretty much needs to regrow the entire circulatory system of the heart. it will take time, but eventually, barring complications he should feel better than he has in years.
