I was reading boat builder magazine yesterday, specifically the article on Harry Schoell. How do you do a multiple paage article on a guy and NOT include the 24x7 design. arguably the most copied, splashed, stretched, shortened and successful offshore boat there is??

I mean how many decades has it been since he designed it, yet walk thru the pits at any offshore race today and you will see that very hull and its many variants adorned with P numbers and still winning on the race course.

Aronow sold Formula to Thunderbird during this era and started a new company called Donzi. Then he sold Donzi and started Magnum Marine, where he teamed with designer Harry Schoell. To insiders, Magnums were game-changers.

“The defining boat,” says Allan Brown, a veteran racer, “was the 28 Magnum designed by Harry Schoell.” Aronow cut it down and sold it as the 27 Magnum, but to “Brownie” and others, the hull lived on through hundreds of copies.
