Help Me Pick A Cam...

Long story short, the cam I have for my stroker is too big since I have not yet upgraded my exhaust. I have been referred several times to a guy to have a custom grind. I don't want to have to pay him to do this twice. I will get a custom grind this winter when I can afford to get the exhaust I want too, then have him grind one to fit everything at once.

For now, I don't want to miss another summer. I want to get the biggest cam I can without ANY fear of reversion. I want to play it very safe, but I still want some power. What is the best cam you can recommend for this combo? Im sure I forgot something. Any questions, please ask. Thanks in advance for the help.

Scat rods
Forged SRP Pistons
Crane lifters
Pro Comp 210cc intake aluminum heads
Manley HD SS valves
Crane Hyd Roller springs (up to .600 lift)
Crane 1.6 ratio rocker arms

I will call him tomorrow. Any idea on what he charges for cams? I just hate to pay big money for something I am only going to get one season from. Maybe I am wrong though, maybe he isn't much more then a boxed cam. I will call him. Thanks for the referral.

I also have 3 inch spacers between my manifolds and riser elbows, if it matters.

Its about the same ...but it will be build for your specs,,so if u change the exhaust later,,u can still leave it in and u will be even better !!!!!!

Just tell him what u have and what u expect out of all that ,,i bet he will impress u in any way !!!!!! :cheers2:

I see your delima, Bob is the cam expert. You do not want to pay for the cam twice, you do not have the budget for the exhaust. Maybe just throw a semi stock flat tappet in till next year. Then get the good stuff later. Ask Bob he will give you the best advice.

Definitely hit the nail on the head.

Bob is not going to try to sell you a cam if what you have will temporarly fit the bill until better exhaust can be purchased. If it will work he will likely tell you to run it. I will say this it is way cheaper to buy the correct parts now so you can desgn your ultimate motor. I understand wanting to spread your money over a couple of seasons, but trust me it will cost much more doing it that way. Been there and done that!!!:willy_nilly:
