Al Gore has his "Global Warming" money making scheme.

Now Glenn Beck is paid to put fear into people to get them to buy gold.

Glenn Beck's gold-gate problem

Yet another controversy appears to be brewing around Fox News host Glenn Beck. Some are accusing him of a blatant conflict of interest concerning his frequent on-air promotion of an investment sold by one of his main advertisers: Gold.

For some time Beck critics have cried foul over his relationship with Goldline International, a precious metals vendor that features the TV and radio host's endorsement prominently on their website. Critics charge that Beck is guilty of misleading his audience by often advising them to purchase gold in advance of the potential collapse of the value of the dollar on the world currency market, without disclosing that he is in fact a "paid spokesman" for Goldline. Beck's on-air promotion of gold, which includes advising viewers to construct "fruit cellars" and to rely on a "three G system" of "God, Gold, and Guns" in the event of America's collapse, dates back to his time as a host for CNN Headline News.

Glenn Beck also regularly talks up gold on his nationally syndicated radio show, where he often endorses Goldline during live commercial segments. Additionally, Beck has had the company's CEO on as a guest. Advertisements for Goldline are also featured prominently on Beck's own website, where he recently promoted gold in an audio clip warning of an apocalyptic future:

When the system eventually collapses, and the government comes with guns and confiscates, you know, everything in your home and all your possessions, and then you fight off the raving mad cannibalistic crowds that Ted Turner talked about, don't come crying to me. I told you: get gold.

Back in October, the liberal media company Air America made this video mocking the conflict of interest:

Haven't radio ads been hawking gold as a hedge against inflation for years??

Just sayin..........No fan of Beck here.

.

It's common sense financial strategy; it's a commodity like anything else.
I don't see the big deal.

Look at guys like Kramer...You can't for one second believe that he doesn't own shares of companies that he touts on his show!

HE doesn't hide the fact that the goldline ads are paid COMMERCIALS. Every talkshow host out there does the same thing. Who cares?

Occasionally Rush Limbaugh also states he likes his Select Comfort bed, and they advertise on his program, shame, shame.....

How about Al Franken shilling for the Dems all these years and then they flim flam him into a Senate seat with all the benefits and goodies WE will now pay for forever!!!! :cuss::cuss::cuss: Certainly seems like a conflict of interest to me!

Should Paul Harvey have been shunned for hawking the Bose wave radio?

Gold has been going up since 2001, where was he then? Most of the gold bugs I know were touting the soft dollar and high deficits all decade. They were right. It's too bad that most of what we refer to as news and opinion now is judged by ideology. What was supposed to be a rebirth of unbiased news now has believers watching something, and then saying "What if it were true?" They don;t really care if it is or not, just so long as they like the message.

My guess is that gold has seen it's best days. Unfortunately for many, the economy might be getting steadily better. Such a shame.

what would your indicators for this be??? unemployment?? the stock market?? the value of the dollar?? Obama said so??

Glen Beck could be the biggest douche tv personality of the decade. The rest of the Fox news people are in line for #2. That could be the worst network on TV

I have to agree. But, I'm not looking for a fusion of entertainment and enlightenment. from a "news" channel. When I want the news, I want to hear from the most unbiased source possible.

Glenn Beck does offer consistant programming for people who agree with his viewpoints. So like Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck will be successful for a long time.

If I want to be entertained with current events, I will watch The Daily Show :p
