I wanted the built in look but the wall track is more versatile because I could move/change stuff around.

Bought a house in 2002, sold it in early 2006 for 2+ times what I had in it. My GF at the time and now fiance did the same thing. We lived in a RV for 2 years on a waterfront RV lot (I already owned the lot) watching the housing market crumble. 1.5 years ago we outgrew the RV so rented a condo for about 1/2 what their monthly payment is.

So that is that part. Then there is now-

4.75-5% rates, $8K 1st time home buyer from Obama (3 years since owned primary home- 2nd homes don't count even if you don't have a 1st home), "They need to sell more than I need to buy" attitude, getting married next year (we'll be together like 5-6 years by then), etc- timing is right for us to get back in the market.

All that added up to we made them give us a deal we couldn't refuse- and they did!

After we're in the house we're buying another 40' RV and after they dredge the river I'm on I'm getting another boat as well! We created our own "luck" since that lottery ticket hasn't come through for me yet (YET!!).

Anyway- this house is a model so has all the options already but still needs some stuff like this garage system, closet system, etc. Looking to settle some time the 3rd week of August and going on vacation 10 days over Labor Day so hoping to get all this stuff done while we are away so when we get back we can move in.

I got the Craftsman stuff from Sears. It's functional and not that expensive. I have two of the big "locker" style cabinets, two of the smaller wall cabinets and the workbench with the pegboard wall attached. Here's a few pics. All can be seen except one of the big cabinets that's over on another wall (next to my toolbox).

yeah until you see that matco and snap are quadruple the price....especially for a homeowner and not a full on shop

I'm not a tool guy- need a few laying around for odd jobs but if it takes more than 20 minutes or 3 tools I'm getting someone else to do it. I mess up more than I fix- cheaper to hire someone to fix what's broke vs what's broke plus what I broke.

I love the Texas stuff (my home state), Snap-on, Matco, etc but I'm thinking I can knock this out for under a few $K; with those that is where I'd start at. For some garages are a mecca; for me they are where the extra beer is stored. I don't want to go with laminate pressboard w/cam locks but having some thing I can sit a motor on isn't needed either.


Plus the Gladiator series has:

Bottle opener
Golf club stuff
Fishin pole holder


How can a guy go wrong?!?!

It's average- little flimsy but not bad for the price. Seems to be a good value. Going to check Sears (sells Gladiator brand as well) & Home Depot just check all the home owner level stuff out.

You were asking about MD a while back- this 75 miles south of where you were looking but where I've been for the last 25 years (37yo now). 4 miles down the road is my RV lot on the water with my boat, etc.

The Town of La Plata is located in Southern Maryland about 30 miles southeast of Washington, DC, 60 miles south of Baltimore and 45 miles southwest of Annapolis. The Town of La Plata serves as the county seat for the Charles County Government and was originally founded in the 1870's as the Pennsylvania Railroad was granted a right of way to build its tracks and station. The Town of La Plata was incorporated on April 4, 1888. Since La Plata's inception, it has grown into a town with a population of approximately 9,500 people.

Cool little town close enough to the big city but trapped in a time warp as well. Like the town hall has concerts on the lawn- last night was the US Naval Academy Band and tonight is "Screen on the Green" where they play movies against the building (Hotel for Dogs tonight).

I can walk to about 6 bars/restaurants but don't have to deal with city noise or traffic.
