This past weekend I participated in the FMO (Ft. Myers Offshore) weekend run to
Sarasota in Sat, overnight at the Hyatt, and then back on Sun.
"FMO is a not-for-profit corporation, dedicated to raising funds for academic
scholarships in SW Florida to help worthy individual graduating from high school,
continue their education at institutions of higher learning including college and
university as approved by the board of Directors". Additional information
regarding FMO can be found at "http://ftmyersoffshore.com/".
Thank you Bob and the entire FMO team, for another great event. The
destination was excellent, and I understand the ride back, was on of the best
rides in memory.
It was my wife's 2nd time in this Skater, and she has never been outside of the
ICW. After 25 miles of some of the roughest harbor conditions I have been in,
with her hiding under a blanket in her seat, we traversed Boca Grande Pass. A
few 4-5 rollers, and she was still covered, but silent. A moment later we had a
mechanical problem, and I slowed way down, and turned around. She came out
and simply said "so now you can turn around?". A slower trip back 25 miles to
my lift, where the tide was now so low, it took us about 20 minutes of standing on
the bow, and pulling the boat, to get on, an out of the water.
I met a gentlemen who had flow to Sarasota in his Guflstream 450 (G4) with his
crew, I also met his stewardess. We spent about 2 hours talking about aircraft
and boats. His room was on the 8th floor overlooking the marina, so I got some
shots at a unique angle.
I have about 130 pictures, here are a few to start, many more to follow:
