Cabbie’s trifecta: 100 mph, fired gun and a DUI

A cab driver opened fire early Sunday in downtown Orlando and sped away in a mini-van taxi at more than 100 mph on Interstate 4, according to Orlando police.

Driver Adrian Marun told police he was being chased by another taxi cab, reports stated Monday.

But by the time driver Adrian Marun was booked into the Orange County Jail, he was charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving, using a firearm under the influence of alcohol, carrying a concealed weapon and resisting arrest without violence.

Marun told police he was trying to scare the other driver, "Luis," when he fired a shot from the window of taxi near the Church Street Station bar district. The confrontation began sometime after 2 a.m. when Marun claimed he drank two beers while visiting two bars, Club Makos and Club Bliss, reports stated.

An Orlando police lieutenant heard the shot, spotted the mini-van cab speed onto I-4 heading westbound and issued a city-wide advisory. Two other Orlando cops saw the taxi driving recklessly and followed it for about 5 miles until it pulled off I-4 and stopped at some apartments near Conroy Road, reports stated.

"Police! Get on the ground," a sergeant ordered Marun, 29, after first drawing his gun.

Marun responded by getting back in his taxi and closing the door on the sergeant. Despite being ordered to, "Shut the vehicle off and show me your hands!"

Marun lowered his hands out of the sergeant's view. Fearing Marun might be trying to grab a gun, the sergeant's broke out the taxi's driver's window with a night stick.

After Marun finally shut off the engine and tossed out the keys, the sergeant and a second officer pulled Marun out of the taxi and handcuffed him after a short struggle, reports stated. A .40-caliber Glock handgun was found concealed in the taxi's center console, reports stated.

Police reports did not mention a second taxi described by Marun as a Yellow First-Choice Express Crown Victoria sedan following the mini-van taxi.

Marun was charged with driving under the influence and reckless driving after two tests showed his blood alcohol content was 0.177 percent and 0.187 percent. The state definition for intoxication is 0.08 percent. Marun also was charged with firing a weapon from a vehicle, using a firearm under the influence of alcohol, carrying a concealed weapon and resisting arrest without violence.

He remained held Monday afternoon in the Orange County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.

I'm surprised a minivan could do 100mph, hahaha!

He must have taken the restrictor plates off the yellow dragon........but keep that on the down low, its not exactly street legal.

I know it won't run 100 but the cops chasing him were running 100 to catch up to him so therefore they can call it a 100 mph chase.....
